Was the improvisation recorded in one take? It's really nicely played :)

This is a really long piece, this feels like a potential point to end it (to me at least)

It would be nice to have more variation in the sound design (I realise that's outside of the improvisation)

Cool played. You can not hear tracks like that in OSC. I mean loops based. This one is really different. Even there is only one sounds I wish you should spend bit more of tuning it. Going for this type of track with synth that does not have much to give in regards of dynamics was brave choice.

While your playing offers several interesting and fun moments, the track as a whole suffers severely from the chosen sound. Esp the ample reverb makes it hard to listen to for any length of time.  So it seems to me, anyway.

Congratulations on doing this.... it's hard for me to get behind such long entries for OSC, but it feels like you took the synth on a personal emotional/compositional journey, and that alone is a worthy endeavor.

another admirer of the playing and composition. I too wish the sound had more variation, even while appreciating the one instance play through. A pedal with some performance variation in the sound to shift it between sections?

A Brand New Cage

Been a while since I did one of these.

All sounds made with 20 instances of Kuma 508 software synth. 
Valhalla Super Massive, Ableton effects (EQ, Hybrid Verb, Saturation, Amp, Limiter, Compressor, Delay).

Digital drops falling - or downloading? Synergistically searching, in a (synthetic) space. Finding is folly, yet nevertheless we persist.

Wholly improvised on the Kuma 508 FM synthesizer.

Synthprovisation #4

Because the prompt mentioned granular synthesis, I decided to do the whole piece in iDensity, which is a fun tool that also works stand alone on iPad. It accepts six samples so I went with six parts. First try was based on six drones recorded in the brilliant Dronecaster. The result was pretty dark, so I tried something else. The second try was based in different field recordings I made today: birds, church bells, a crowd and music at an art show. This version was fun but a little too diverse, sonically, to count as minimal. The third and final try is based on six short recordings of Clarinet, three held notes with a swoop, one Staccato, just blowing through and just the mechanics. The track was created by mixing the six parts live.

The Project is a follow-up to our popular Free Angels and Free Radicals libraries, which were done in collaboration with our awesome community of users. The idea with our Free You Project was to create the most personal collection of memorable sounds. All we asked was that people recorded/created the 5 most important sounds in their life. The 5 sounds that stood closest to their heart. We took all the contributions and put them into one samples library. We edited, programmed, designed and distributed the entire collection and also added a large chunk of personal materials to it. No restrictions, no rules no limits.
