Smoothing out Hampton Roads & Washington, DC radio its Jay Lang, Author of his 1st Motivational Book “Wisdom From The Jazzman”, GM/Station Manager of Hampton University’s 88.1 WHOV, Producer & CEO of the Church Street Jazz Series (10 years to present), Part Time announcer at Howard University’s 96.3 WHUR, the former host of DC’s Smooth Jazz 105.9’s Lights Out Washington, now host of “Lights Out Hampton Roads” on Smooth 88.1 WHOV (www.whov.org).  From a broadcasting family, his father, the late Jimmy "The Gator" Lang was a Savannah radio legend with a career spanning 45 years. Prior to coming to Hampton University’s WHOV as GM, he was a top rated Afternoon Drive/Evening Air Personality at Washington, DC’s Smooth Jazz 105.9 and Program Director & Evening Personality at WJCD Smooth Jazz 105.3 in Norfolk, VA.

He began his career in 1974 (50 years ago) in Savannah, Georgia at the age of 14 as a high school announcer at 1230AM WSOK in his hometown. As Program & Music Director for 11 years, he engineered the success of WPLZ-Magic 99/Richmond. The earlier years included programming WENZ/Richmond, MD of WSOK/Savannah, GA MD and gracing the airwaves of WIGO/Atlanta as a weekend announcer while attending the National School of Radio & TV Broadcasting.

In addition to working on air in Richmond, he became entertainment editor for Night Moves Magazine, enjoyed a successful 4 year run from 1982-1986 as Host/Producer of Soundtrack, a weekly TV entertainment show on NBC Richmond/WWBT 12. worked in a few acting parts in films, produced records, produces live concerts, and served as producer/host of Hampton Roads Weekend Magazine (a weekly one hour public affairs program)."

Jay is a professional Master Of Ceremonies and a veteran 31 year internationally known Voiceover Talent/Actor with Studio Center Worldwide Audio. A avtive member of SAG/AFTRA, his voice is heard on Church’s Chicken 2023 TV Commercial Campaigns, currently in The Museum Of African American History & Culture in Washington, DC, on Time Life Music’s “Soul Of The 70’s”, “The Soul Train DVD Collection”, "Body & Soul," "Wedding Songs", “Soul Fantasy Collection", "Body & Soul Of The 90's", “Body & Soul Of The 80’s”, “Midnight Soul Infomercial”, “Midnight Fire” & "Best of Peabo Bryson” TV commercials, internet based Jazz Club Channel, CBN, NASA, The Williamsburg Airport Overhead P.A. He's addition he was the Personal Manager for Ashley Nichole, Season 6 Actress from The Bad Girls Club on The Oxygen Network, President/CEO of Blue Pyramid Productions LLC (www.bluepyramidproduction.com), Founder & Chairman of the HJ Lang Foundation (www.hjlangfoundation.org) Chairman Of The Board for Visit Norfolk ( The Norfolk Convention & Visitors Bureau, Board Governor of NANOE (National Association of Non-Profit Organizations & Executives, is a member of The 100 Black Men Of Greater Washington, DC, Inc and was formerly the worldwide booking agent for the legendary 80’s old school band The Blackbyrds.

His other endeavors includes his longtime passion as a musician & songwriter. He was co-writer of Ken Navarro's Top 5 Smooth Jazz single "You Are Everything" from his CD Love Coloured Soul & "Standing Tall" the title track on the Bob Baldwin's CD Stand Tall (Bob coincidently is his daughter Kiara’s Godfather).
