Don't Be Afraid feat. Minako

If you heard our top 100 2015, you probably remember Liem's "If Only I Could", a feel-good deep house anthem released via the German label Lehult as part of a split release with Lucky Charmz. Early February, Lehult is turning up the heat with another big EP, this time by a young Hamburg based producer who goes by the name of Eddie Ness and already made an appearance on the imprint last year. The four tracker is entitled "Afro" and includes three original tracks, "Ombré" premiered here, "Afro" and "Menjou" as well as a Borrowed Identity remix of "Ombré". Like most Lehult records, it's quality, and it's probably going to end up with silly prices on Discogs, so you'd better not sleep on this one!

Next up on our track premiere series, we have an artist whose been taking the world and underground scene by storm. Istanbul's forward thinking imprint Roit (@roitrecordings) is dropping another huge release, this time coming from Parisian's own Abe (@user-294671220), AKA '100 Reasons' Kemt's (@kemtt) new moniker. As Abe, he delivers a wonderful mixture of melancholic vocals with lo-fi house grooves, Keep your eyes and ears peeled for this release as this'll be dropping at the beginning of June.

Based in Bogotá, this esteemed producer and DJ has been making a name for himself with releases on his own label Nómada Records, as well as Toy Tonics, Waze & Odyssey’s Street Tracks, Seb Wildblood’s imprint Church and many more. 

His lo-fi, jazzy house sound is fully on display with the hip hop influenced ‘Jambalaya’. A perfectly stripped back but jazzy track with lush Rhodes, samples and a wonky acid bassline.

The Lisbon-based No, She Doesn’t is more than just a label, it’s a movement. An open-minded outlook on life has led the collective to take pride in representing values such as equality and freedom, not forgetting to have fun along the way. Their nonchalant take on house has already won many fans around the world, while the names of the crew like DJ Spielberg, DJ Unsure or DJ Legwarmer speak volumes on how serious they take themselves.

It is the Full On EP from the latter that we’ll be taking a closer look today, which the debut release from the up-and-coming producer. With the usual sample-heavy approach, the Portuguese label aficionado has delivered four smashing cuts, just in time to drench the dancefloors this summer. Taking influences from disco and RnB, masterfully layering them and adding a touch of nostalgia, DJ Legwarmer comes up with a winning formula and the EP title seems ever more fitting. 

Opening with ‘Quandary’, an untamed belt of rhythm activity steeped in lush disco fragments, the EP follows with the title track ‘Full On’, atomized with an addictive groove and unexpected tricks. On the flip side, we find a dreamy cut of exotica on ‘Emotion/Behaviour’, before ‘Mar De Nuvens’, the final piece where DJ Legwarmer demonstrates his instinctive feel for emotive and catchy samples that we won’t get tired of. Between self-absorption and euphoria, Full On is a must have, anytime, anywhere.
