This dream kitty has dream claws. What will it take to wake us from this somnambulistic dream stroll? Something higher, perhaps, a taste of the divine. i made myself bigger ears from clay to hear the ghosts that roam the island. they certainly had something to say about loss. isosaari is heavy with its military history—bunkers and installations, a torpedo. several empty and haunted buildings, tombstone, the stone base of russian barracks, german casemates and a mass grave of the reds from the civil war.

in the forest, shadows lingered in tangled roots and loss was woven into the fabric of ground. this island is a strange testament to what remains.

’a soft plea, we seek freedom. we all navigate grief’s landscape. but for liberation for the living, you need to hear those who are alive’, the ghosts said.
