Moontribe's 20 year anniversary Full Moon Gathering coincided with the summer solstice and 2013's supermoon and needless to say the energy was HIGH! The sound system was vibrating at a super-sweet frequency and the dance floor took it to the next level :)

20+ years of Moontribe has meant many ups and downs, we have seen weddings there, a death, and a couple of memorials for community members who have passed on way before we wanted them too.  This was the most intense of all Moontribes for me as we celebrated the life, and came to grips with the recent death, of our sweet and loveable friend, Nico Rojas.

This 3-hour set was played between 10:20am and 1:20pm on Saturday, October 18, 2013.  Emotions ranged from light - being engaged in a marshmallow fight with friends on the dancefloor, to heavy - open grieving on the dancefloor with the music playing.  The music also reflects this play between light and more somber/thoughtful energies, one of the best I've played and certainly the most emotional.

If you can, please listen to this set in its entirety as I have tried listening to parts and it really doesn't work as well.  Try it on a long drive, cleaning the house, or when working through some issues .  

Finally, send some love to Nico, to his brother Mauricio, and mother, Lisa, and all his family and friends who miss him dearly in this world.  Both the music and the way it is mixed were meant as in memory of his life and in honor of his loving spirit.

Deep in the Mojave Desert, under the November full moon known among many names as the "Moon When All Is Gathered In", we gathered and danced for the last time in 2013 . . . and what a gathering it was! This set was played in the wee hours of the night into the sunrise, during a most epic moonset. 
Many thanks to everyone who 'gathered in' to bring this very active year of Full Moon Gatherings to a close with such a wonderful dance.

The party itself defies description as participants gathered for 2 days and 2 nights perched in the hills above the high desert under the massive Supermoon in cold cold March.  We battled all the elements out there - cold cold air, constant wind in your face, fire and smoke in your face thanks to the wind, then water in your face thanks to the rain and wind! Despite all this, great energy on the dancefloor right up until it became unbearable. We won't forget it!

My set was recorded between about 8:30 and 11pm on Saturday night, the first set of the night after a 4-hour break from music.  I was told I had "nice " weather during my set by those who had been up the night before and later I knew what they meant.  Nice weather meant just above 40F with strong wind but tolerable and no rain.  Later things turned for the worse and I had to retire from the dance floor around 3am, my face raw from dust gusting into in, and my eyes wrecked from smoke blowing into them.

It was an amazing experience because of the sense of community felt in adverse conditions, because of the amazingly huge full moon above us, because of the quality of music which continued no matter how hard the wind blew, and most of all because of the dedication of the dancers to persevere no matter how bad it got.  One of my top experiences in 13 years now playing at the full moon parties, and in my 15 of djing period.  

Well I hope you enjoy this set, included in it's entirety, whether it's in your car, home, or other comfy locale.  Smile as you think of us being tossed around in the elements but feeling so free at the same time.  Or if you were there...then you remember!

Live at July Full Moon 2014 -- Free Download

Primal howls in the sky and dusty air surrounding a throbbing mass of animals under the moonlight. Among the bramble and sand in the remote mojave, a sound emanates from an orange behemoth of a soundsystem...you've found home...

Here's my audio offering to the gathering of July's Full Moon. A dark, night mix of techno and psy along with a few of my own original works, i hope this live recording of a small amount of the event brings back fond memories, and invigorates the soul!
