Don't know who's saying, but still they try

It's probably smart to think better thoughts
Gotta replace them, but then with what?
What are the hand holds out of this rut?

Pain likes to sing the same sad words
It's the same four you already heard
Mumble them 'cause I'm not even sure
To really be clean has been my hope
Like a fresh washed dog of the whitest coat
Isn't gonna happen with any soap

Sometimes I wonder who really cares
If something were to happen would you be here?
