This album took me a little more than a year to put together, as I’ve continued to hone my sound and style. The inspirations for these tracks ranged from Jaytech to deadmau5 to Matt Fax and No Mana. I’m definitely going for a geometric, energetic, layered, technical vibe – with some feelz to boot. Something you can dance to, but also wouldn’t mind playing in the background of a focused working session. I’ve enjoyed experimenting with different types of vocal effects and I hope there’s at least one or two moments in this album that resonate with you. 💠

Foraging Forward

I combined some slightly more complicated drum patterns in this one, along with all the ear candy layers you could wish for. You might be expecting a breakdown and a second drop, but I liked how it sounds as is and wanted to leave the listener (you) wanting more. The track title came from a phrase I encountered in Douglas Hofstadter's book "I Am A Strange Loop". If you end up spacing out while listening to this, then mission accomplished. 🌌

Complex Reflexes

Ethereal and energetic, with punchy percussion and a sprinkling of decorative sounds.

That's me playing bass guitar in the outro section. 🎸

Moderated Debauchery

There's exactly one Inception "thwommm" sound (tuned and warped) in here. Plz don't sue me Mr. Zimmer 🎺

Compu Global Hyper Mega Net

The title is a reference to the aphorism, "Small things will make a large pile", which I like to think about when it comes to producing music, building expertise, or making anything of value, really. This track contains all the interlocking elements you may come to expect from a JC++ track, including an evolving bass line, incessant plucky arpeggios, stretched ethereal vocals, padded synth chords, brass stabs, and some nice tension and release. One friend referred to the buzzy glitchy noise at 3:42 as a nostalgic rendition of the "cell phone signal interfering with speakers" sound, which was unintentional, but oddly beautiful. 📶

A Small Amalgamation

I chose a more subdued beat for this track, but you'll still hear the usual mix of angelic female melodies and sliced and diced voices. Attentive listeners will notice at least one instrument layer which I reused from a previous production. This song reminds me of a serene landscape, on the shores of an ocean, lush with vegetation. Not all the sounds make sense, but they're not supposed to. 🧠

Semantic Satiation

JC++, a producer and DJ with Midwestern roots, was classically trained on piano, clarinet, and bass guitar. Now living in NYC and armed with a laptop and headphones, he plays with electronic music as a universal language that anyone can connect with.

His progressive house tracks create a fun mood in a range of spaces, from casual apartment hangs to dance floor parties. Layered vocals and intricate soundscapes turn his music into vibrant journeys, keeping the energy going with a whimsical touch.
