09 Walking Undead

This album is a global effort to connect the different tribes and scenes around the world to come to a more openminded and sustainable human society.

The music was contributed by members of the Tribal Bass FB group;

and compiled and mastered by Hentopan aka dustrickx, a tribal bass promotor from Belgium.

For easter 2021 ( on 4/4 this year) we release this new compilation with the best in tribal bass music as a dedication to the group and the entire scene and a way to cross international boundaries and bring together the world in a year of reconnection.

Tribal Bass is a mixture of genres ranging from styles using idm-ish breakbeats and fusion trip-hop over ethnic instrumentals, global trap to psy-dub, experimental bass and glitch-hop. It is known as a danceable downtempo style for psy-heads and nu-school hippies and is usually plaid at chill out or second stage areas in European psychedelic festivals, but it also hits the main stages in US, AU, NZ and Can. Subtle sounds bubble to the surface throughout this track, giving it a curious and eerie feel. ⨀

Half Life

I had some fun messing around with the deep bass-y lines, pitch-bending and warping and distorting them. I also arranged the synth riff and "bupbupbup" vocal chops next to each other in a call-and-response fashion. A friend of mine described this track as "unhinged", which I'll take as a compliment. (o_O)

Spagetty

Ingredients list: kick, clap, hats, a bright and airy pluck progression, a simple bass drone, a free-flowing brass melody, some distorted vocal harmonies, occasional whooshy/wave-y risers, and... bird chirpy sounds. 🐣

Convoclusions

A little faster-paced this time (129 BPM), with some fun stereo glitchiness. I tried to emphasize more realistic sounding instruments, namely the brass notes and electric guitar arpeggios. There's an epic story behind the title of this track (too long to fit here) involving an escalator, my personal trainer, and the edge of my sanity. 🙉

JC++, a producer and DJ with Midwestern roots, was classically trained on piano, clarinet, and bass guitar. Now living in NYC and armed with a laptop and headphones, he plays with electronic music as a universal language that anyone can connect with.

His progressive house tracks create a fun mood in a range of spaces, from casual apartment hangs to dance floor parties. Layered vocals and intricate soundscapes turn his music into vibrant journeys, keeping the energy going with a whimsical touch.
