When You Want To Succeed as Bad You Want to Breathe, then You'll be Successful

Sometimes blessings come disguised as roadblocks. Such is the case of More Music More Fami- ly, the new release from soulful singer-songwriter Cas Haley. The Texas-based artist was suc- cessfully recording, touring and building a fanbase when he was sidelined by an accident that hampered his ability to sing. The idea for More Music More Family came about during treatment, as Haley reflected on how to pursue his career in a way the included his family and better repre- sented his lifestyle.
Crowdfunded through a Pledge Music campaign and recorded over a month at Steelgrass Farm in Kauai, Hawaii, More Music More Family was co-produced and co-written by Andrew Terrett, aka Tubby Love. Its tracks address the universality of life lessons with positivity and uplifting melodies. The album borrows the best of Haley’s previous efforts, drawing on influences of reg- gae, soul, blues and rock. It captures an organic, live-record feeling with high-quality sound.

The Green - Roots

I close my eyes and I'm there, on tour with one of the bands that helped start this whole thing. Three guys pumping power and life into thousands of moving bodies. Swarms of beautiful girls swaying. I always dreamed of life on the road. Sweat. Summer. Sex.

My mind flashes. The Green takes the stage. These harmonies are mind-bending. The beat- hypnotic, pulsing. I'm so lucky to be part of this magic.

I open my eyes and head tilted back, I soak up Pepper's new single, "Start You Up" (The Green Version). I finally get my fix. Their 2013 self-titled album kept me pushing forward and since then I've been waiting for someone to take me back. I had been out of the game for two years when I was reintroduced to the scene by two of Hawaii's biggest powerhouses.

Pepper and The Green made me remember why I do what I do. I had forgotten the sound of laughter in a green room- what it's like to travel the country with close friends. They taught me how to tour again.

My gratitude is palpable as I groove to this track. Pepper has teamed up with The Green's Brad Watanabe to create something crisp and fresh, new yet familiar. Something indescribably and uniquely Pepper, with a twist of Green. It gets dirty, flowing through ambiance and dub, before being wiped clean and polished with a shine. Perhaps that's just what comes from putting these two together. IMG_6293

Brad welcomed the collab: "It was awesome to do this remix, I grew up listening to and jamming songs off Kona Town and always looked up to these guys."

As did I, as did all of my friends. Thanks for taking me back. Thanks for the memories of a time when I only dreamed of this life, and of a time when I was brought back to life through this music. Thanks for giving me something to dance to till next tour. I'll meet you at the next party. Catch ya on the road.

Cali reggae has taken the world by storm. It has re-energized what was once thought of as a tired and boxed-in genre into new mainstream classics of a generation. What is the draw? To the rescue, comes Tribal Seeds. They maintain the roots integrity while never losing the sex appeal. “Surrender” is a very sexy tune. A hard driving love song. A message that will never die. Music for dancing. Grinding. Loving. Love will always be revolutionary. As the music continues to inspire roots reggae lovers to multiply, the message of family, truth, and interdependence proliferates.

Granular Meets J Dubby at Echo Mountain to produce the vibrations of J dubular. The union and resulting journey is not one of ascension or descent, but about how to sonically (and scenically) navigate the terrain. J Dubby’s drums and Granular’s bass establish the foundational “riddim” of their travels as the duo takes us spelunking through caverns of reverb haunted by flocks of bats screeching ambient white noise. The splash of metallic puddles resonates in the space between our ears and drones in the ether of our mind’s eye. And just as one becomes disoriented by the soundscapes within Echo Mountain, people all over the world join hands as J Dubby’s righteous organ propels the locomotion of a “Dub Train.” In these moments of resolution we are reminded that our tour guides are not the first to traverse the crags of Echo Mountain, yet in their voyages they have found new paths through a rich tradition mapped by dub explorers.
