Almost 3 years ago, I recorded an all-Rack album based on variations on a single patch (Radio Free Krakatau), then lost access to the machine where the original patches and tracks were stored.  

All I had were the original recordings and a video of the original patch (in Rack 0.6). Last week, I decided that I really wanted that patch back, badly enough that I sat down with the video and carefully traced all the connections to work out the basics of the original patch, then figured out which modules to use to replace the ones that were no longer available.

After carefully checking the connections, removing redundant modules and dropping anything that didn't actually create sound, I had a reproduction of the patch -- and it was better!

So losing the original patches was a blessing in disguise; the new patch is considerably more interesting than the old, and is better laid out for usability in a live performance.
