Dandelion

Across the street, down to the fence,
Dig in the dirt, and smell the wet earth.
 
South through the cove 
A year off of shore  
And here we are at last
Hidden behind a light house 
Safe from the storm

Before the night falls
Come sit with me

Only Ghosts come by to break this fast
and this basement smells like
Books and bones and the bay 

And the last stand is in the oaks 
And the last stand is in the red woods 
And the last stand is just a cypress alone

the air is less shiny 
the sound of the rain 
Against the glass
Is less harsh. 

The rain brings a chill,
But I like my space heater,
I like my blankets and my teddy bear, 
I like watching the clouds melt away on the train.

I want to touch the statues;
I want to tell them that I am frozen too. 
But I let them stay stone and instead I wrap myself in fishnets and gemstones and bits of coral,
And I apologize to the turtles who will choke on all this plastic inside of me.
