Belgian artist B1980 returns to Zone with a rugged four tracker designed to rip up the dance floor.
B1980 is respected producer and musician Bert Libeert and is best known as the drummer of
electro-rock band GOOSE. This project sees him focus on his love of EBM and techno with influences
taken from new beat and Belgian legends like Front242. His aim is to bring the spontaneity of live music
back to clubs, armed with just two synths and two drum machines. Says the artist, "music is not all
about technique or knowledge, it’s about expressing your personality and style." He sure backs that up
here.
'Quiet Confidence' opens in blistering style with jacked up drums and a warped bassline. Steely
textures and twitchy synths bring the twisted electro-techno track alive as the tension bubbles and
boils throughout. 'Hooded Figure' is a more straight up banger with lashings of synth peeling off the
groove, eerie pads and brain-frying bass all working the dance floor into a state of chaos. 'Modeling
Minds' slows things down to a predatory and heavyweight crawl, with spangled synth patterns and
supersized hi hats all conveying an epic sense of battle to come. The visceral closer is 'Body Dancer'
with its sheet metal drums, yearning vocal cries and stiff bass loops all making for a macho and moody
sound.
These are brilliantly muscular yet musical tracks that bring real terror to the dance floor.

Overcome | 5 tracks based on electronic songwriting, but, ultimately, the illegitimate child of EBM and Techno, a homogeneous set of dark and reflective moments and others much more dreamy. An introspective and visionary journey between the present and the ghosts of the past.
In the musical paradigm, these moments turn into killer choruses that travel between pads and crescendos, beats that make you dance slowly and melancholic synths that tear the darkness.
A perfect fusion between the classic electronic style inspired by both the primordial wave of pioneers Kraftwerk and the new school of artists like Anthony Rother, and post-apocalyptic industrial, EBM and Techno soundscapes. An imaginary of war theaters that we don't even see on the news anymore, so accustomed are we and at the same time disinterested spectators.
Each track tells a story of rarefied dark and at the same time persuasive environments, crossed by broken beats that evolve into a dark clubbing mood.
The fifth, included as a bonus track in the EP, is an old work taken out of the drawer and transformed into a new collaboration accompanied by the deep voice of Nino Sable, this one has an approach that is certainly more tending towards the darkwave and post-punk style.

Broken Britain, late 1994. Amidst a welter of Tory sleaze, John Major's 'Back to Basics' campaign is dead in the water. No one is buying the traditional-family-values mantra of the hypocritical, festering
ruling classes.

Meanwhile, that same year’s hastily misconceived Criminal Justice Act attempts to criminalise entire musical genres, and by extension the nation’s irrepressible youth. The CJA’s famously reductive edict, characterising 'rave' as "wholly or predominantly categorised by the emission of a succession of repetitive beats" lumps acid house, techno, disco, breaks—all of it—together; a cloddish cudgel against
unlicensed parties everywhere.

Though the spirit of the nation's young hearts hasn't been extinguished, perhaps the music begins to reflect a slightly dampened, more introspective mood: driven further underground, sent indoors and out to the borderlands by authoritarian over-policing.

As seasoned organisers abandon Britain to create raves in more permissive parts of Europe, there is a trace of optimism, however—the much-vaunted high-speed Eurostar railway connecting England with
France is finally open, signifying ongoing musical and cultural aﬃliations. It's hard to believe now, but the dream of the UK in Europe is still alive, and dance music is an integral element.

Into this intense, contradictory culture, in which acutely fertile dance scene clashed directly with an ossified establishment, came The Magus Project, who some 30 years ago in a small bedsit in Fulham, took the sounds of the moment and distilled them into five electronic objet d’art, hitherto completely unheard.

If a tree falls in the woods, does it truly make a sound? The Aerohead casket of DAT tape curiosities, rare components and DIY musical alchemy raises a similar question. Can music never heard at the time
speak to the mood, the moment, the magic? Listen for yourself, to an indefinite past meeting an indefinable future.

Australian artist Sam In Space makes his debut on Roam Recordings with an EP full of high-octane dance floor anthems. Kicking things off is Late Night Conversations, a track brimming with electrifying energy, driving rhythms, and a vocal that builds to a powerful crescendo. The title track, Mind Machine, keeps the momentum going, delivering a massive club hit that's sure to keep the energy pumping.

Adding to the release are two incredible remixes from Roam Recordings alumni Colossio and Mijo. Colossio brings a mesmerizing, hypnotic twist to Late Night Conversations, while Mijo injects a fresh vibe into Mind Machine, adding a funky, chopped-up guitar lick that elevates the track to new heights.

With all four tracks maintaining a relentless, high-energy dance floor vibe, this EP is set to ignite any party.

Sinchi Music returns with the twelfth volume of its influential Altered States series, featuring artists from all over the world.

All sales from this not-for-profit release will be donated to the Sinchi Foundation to support Indigenous forest guardians in the Brazilian Amazon.

We open with Tassilo Vanhöfen, a visionary musician whose work reflects a profound appreciation for both the organic and synthetic, creating a dynamic interplay that captivates audiences and evokes a sense of introspection. Flow My Tears, an ethereal dance cut inspired by a deep dive into ’90s and 2000s Russian techno, blends nostalgia with emotional depth. Drawing from the genre’s signature vocal-driven, euphoric sound, he channels its distinctive charm, while crafting something uniquely his own.

Next up is Switzerland-based John Parsley, an MPC enthusiast who churns out a track that defies genres, a manifestation of his musical will in its essence. With recurring releases on labels such as Ombra International, Feines Tier to name a few, he proves over and over again that his music speaks for itself. ‘Brain Structure’, In his own words, the drums were entirely programmed on a modified Alesis HR-16B, a raw, punchy, and full of character. Built upon this foundation, the track unfolds into a soundscape which balances structure and chaos (like in his brain).

Nantes-based Dan ChiCharron oscillates between dark disco and psychedelic indie dance. As a resident for two years at Solemne Centro and Azul Rosa in Guatemala, he developed a unique sound influenced by Zillas on Acid and Tolouse Low Trax. A spontaneous night out in Nantes unexpectedly sparked the creation of ‘Random Jackpot’. That raw, hypnotic vibe followed him back into the studio, where it quickly took shape in this minimalist electro beat that carries the energy of a post-punk rebel on acid.

Bruce Wine is a Mexican producer and DJ who has more than eight years of experience in moving the needle in the local scene. With ‘Psycho Disco’, Bruce Wine dives headfirst into the shadows of sound, exploring the duality between dancefloor energy and emotional intensity. It’s a track built on contrasts, where pulsating beats meet cinematic textures.. An immersive experience that blurs the lines between the rational and the emotional, each beat unfolds like a scene in a film, guiding the listener through a parallel universe.

Next up, we welcome Ninasonik, the founder of Vaarian Records. Being immersed in the Mexican scene for the past 10 years has allowed her to share the stage with The Blessed Madonna, Answer Code Request, Volvox, Cabizbajo, and Theus Mago, to name a few. Her creative gift to Sinchi comes in the form of ‘FURIA’. It flows with hypnotic intensity, channeling the kind of night that feels endless. For Ninasonik, the intention is crystal clear: to sonically translate the almost mystical moment, when the self dissolves into the collective pulse of the dancefloor.

Finishing this series is a track that made us fall in love at first listen. Astrochimp, from Cyprus, crafts tracks that mirror life's unpredictable rhythms, purely guided by curiosity and an instinct for the unexpected. ‘Alien Contact’ is a Detroit-inspired electro, reimagined through a futuristic lens. It’s a bold and immersive take on a timeless sound, merging the mechanical soul of Detroit with an exploratory, forward-thinking edge.
