Upon his return, he was approached by General Joshua Armstrong, who offered him the opportunity to join the Freedom Five. If he did, he would get to operate the brand-new Personal Armament Exo-Chassis YS-1300t suit, an automated battle suit with the firepower of a full battalion. Presenting, the strategic brains and mobile armoury of the Freedom Five: Bunker.

Bunker [Heroes of the Multiverse]

Ryan Frost was a janitor at Pike Cryogenics Laboratory. One night, he was caught in the explosion of a malfunctioning sub-zero atomizer. He survived, but his body’s core temperature was permanently dropped to nigh absolute zero. He was operated on under the extreme conditions of a cryogenically frozen operating room. He regained consciousness, but could not leave the tiny cryo chamber. Dr. Stinson, aka Tachyon, created a mobility enhancing suit for him that was capable of maintaining internal temperature of absolute zero. He could have the suit and work to pay it off as a member of the Freedom Five. After 2 years of reluctance, he became Absolute Zero, and fighting for the good of mankind to pay off his debt and attempting to live as normal a life as possible. Presenting, the coolest guy in the Freedom Five: Absolute Zero.

Devra Caspit always had a knack for building things, but she could build things without even touching them. All she had to do was assemble them in her mind, and the pieces would align themselves. One day, she received word that there was a position open for a person of her skills, if she would be interested in working with Dr. Stinson. Presenting, the technopath and intern of the Freedom Five: Unity.

H. R. Walker used to run a martial arts school for kids, most of whom never paid for their classes. But about 25 years ago, a group of his students were killed for standing up for themselves, gunned down by drug dealers for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. H.R. closed down the school the next day, telling students, "The only way to stay safe is to not fight back." Now, Slim just runs his auto shop, and everyone in the neighborhood knows it’s the best place to get your car fixed. However, the pushers and dealers are expanding their territory, and there’s been a rash of criminal activity on Slim’s block, and H.R’s "Don’t fight back" policy won’t last for long. Presenting the Zen Mechanical Martial Artist of Dark Watch: Mr. Fixer.

Mr. Fixer [Heroes of the Multiverse]

Expatriette was not a hero. In fact, she is the daughter of the notorious villain, Citizen Dawn. However, Expatriette was mostly rejected by her mother as she did not possess any super powers. She instead started to get good with a gun that she took from some dinosaur poachers on Insula Primalis. She then uses her friend Regina’s teleportation power to escape from their home base, and then uses the gun against her so that nobody can report where she had gone. She ends up in Rook City working as a mercenary, getting a reputation as a “Super Killer”. She is then contracted to take out Mr. Fixer. And she fails. Mr. Fixer gets the drop on her, taking away her weapons, and prompts her with self-reflective questions. “Who are you really?”, “What is your purpose here?”. This gets her thinking about her life. At that point, Grand Warlord Voss invades, and she protects people against the alien invasion, and she starts getting touted as a hero. The Freedom Five start to help her out and get her on her feet in a new role, as one fighting for the side of good. Presenting the Sharpshooter of Dark Watch: Expatriette.

Faye Diamond took over Diamond Investigations from her father and began investigating the disappearance of her grandfather Joe over 70 years earlier. That investigation took her face to face with the Occult and magical relics. This is when she learned that magic is real, and she was good at it. She was eventually approached by Tachyon to help her investigate and fight against paranormal threats. Taking the name “NightMist”, she vigilantly patrols the shadows of night, protecting this world from things that come from the realms beyond our own! Presenting, the paranormal investigator of Dark Watch: NightMist.

Millennia ago, a race of ancient and mysterious beings built a great city on an island in the South Atlantic. After a series of wars rocked their civilization, the island was abandoned and eventually sank beneath the waves.

Now, thousands of years later, its ruins have been discovered on the ocean floor, and the rush is on to possess the secrets of Atlantis! This ancient city will once again be a battleground, as heroes strive to keep powerful, archaic weapons out of the hands of the most nefarious villains in the Multiverse!

Tales of The Chairman are few and far between, but he has purportedly held the reins of organized crime in Rook City for the better part of the last century. Most criminologists theorize that "The Chairman" must be a title, passed down through the years. Some wild stories have been told of one man who has somehow lived this long, controlling the streets since their creation, but there is no evidence to substantiate these claims. However, if such a man did exist, Rook City surely would be at his mercy, and the tales do not mention mercy…

Silver Gulch is a good town. Well, it was. Before them Hayes boys rode into town, that is. Since then, most of the townsfolk've cleared out. Hightailed it out of town, and just in time, too. Now, every street corner is filled with the sounds of breaking glass, hootin' and hollerin', and gunfire.

PROGENY was born, surging up though the crust of the Earth. It knew its two directives. It's first command: Destroy. It can assume many forms, and will make use of all of them to lay waste to lay waste to its surroundings. Its second command was less simple, but even more important: It must prepare for the arrival of its progenitor. PROGENY is the harbinger of the downfall of the human race, and with it, the multiverse itself.

Wager Master commonly goes centuries without showing up anywhere in the Multiverse. But, when it does, it's a safe bet that things will go wrong. Wager Master thrives on playing with the rules of reality. It appears to a race of sentient beings, plays games with whatever champions they might have, and then destroys everything as the inevitably lose its games. Those who lose to Wager Master become mere playing pieces for more twisted games.

Aminia Twain had been a loyal assistant at the Freedom Five headquarters for three years. She managed the superheroes as if they were her family, always alerting them of trouble before it started. But then she had a strange vision, a vision in which she was in dire trouble, and the heroes hadn’t saved her. They left her for dead. She didn’t know the significance of this, but didn’t care. From now on she was an enemy of the Freedom Five. But rather than reveal the change in her, she would misdirect and misinform the heroes, sending them into needlessly dangerous situations in an attempt to ruin them, the way she felt they had ruined her.

Hitoshi Sakimoto, the composer for Final Fantasy Tactics, has referenced progressive rock bands as part of his musical influences. The game features an exclusively orchestrated soundtrack, however you can hear these prog rock influences throughout. 

This prompted me to think: what if Sakimoto had gone with an entirely 70s-style Yes-inspired soundtrack for FFT instead? Is this what it would have sounded like?

My entry for the 45th MusicWeeklies, a new musical challenge every week! This week's theme is "Ninja".

For the Ninja theme, the first thing that popped into my head was the Ninja Gaiden soundtrack. I hadn't used Famitracker in a long time, but decided that was the best way to get something that would sound really similar. I started messing around with the sounds of the iconic level 4-2 music and came up with something much more in the "funk" realm. Hope you like it!

This track was done with the Nintendo 2A03 chip, but I enhanced it with mastering and a bit of panning.

I mean, I certainly don't have any idea what I'm talking about you know what I mean? Seriously, it's almost impossible to find good help anymore.
