Tyler Vance joined the military, went to the Middle East, and in so doing became a war hero. Upon his return, he was approached by General Joshua Armstrong, who offered him the opportunity to join the Freedom Five. If he did, he would get to operate the brand-new Personal Armament Exo-Chassis YS-1300t suit, an automated battle suit with the firepower of a full battalion. Presenting, the strategic brains and mobile armoury of the Freedom Five: Bunker.

Ryan Frost was a janitor at Pike Cryogenics Laboratory. One night, he was caught in the explosion of a malfunctioning sub-zero atomizer. He survived, but his body’s core temperature was permanently dropped to nigh absolute zero. He was operated on under the extreme conditions of a cryogenically frozen operating room. He regained consciousness, but could not leave the tiny cryo chamber. Dr. Stinson, aka Tachyon, created a mobility enhancing suit for him that was capable of maintaining internal temperature of absolute zero. He could have the suit and work to pay it off as a member of the Freedom Five. After 2 years of reluctance, he became Absolute Zero, and fighting for the good of mankind to pay off his debt and attempting to live as normal a life as possible. Presenting, the coolest guy in the Freedom Five: Absolute Zero.

Devra Caspit always had a knack for building things, but she could build things without even touching them. All she had to do was assemble them in her mind, and the pieces would align themselves. One day, she received word that there was a position open for a person of her skills, if she would be interested in working with Dr. Stinson. Presenting, the technopath and intern of the Freedom Five: Unity.

H. R. Walker used to run a martial arts school for kids, most of whom never paid for their classes. But about 25 years ago, a group of his students were killed for standing up for themselves, gunned down by drug dealers for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. H.R. closed down the school the next day, telling students, "The only way to stay safe is to not fight back." Now, Slim just runs his auto shop, and everyone in the neighborhood knows it’s the best place to get your car fixed. However, the pushers and dealers are expanding their territory, and there’s been a rash of criminal activity on Slim’s block, and H.R’s "Don’t fight back" policy won’t last for long. Presenting the Zen Mechanical Martial Artist of Dark Watch: Mr. Fixer.

Expatriette was not a hero. In fact, she is the daughter of the notorious villain, Citizen Dawn. However, Expatriette was mostly rejected by her mother as she did not possess any super powers. She instead started to get good with a gun that she took from some dinosaur poachers on Insula Primalis. She then uses her friend Regina’s teleportation power to escape from their home base, and then uses the gun against her so that nobody can report where she had gone. She ends up in Rook City working as a mercenary, getting a reputation as a “Super Killer”. She is then contracted to take out Mr. Fixer. And she fails. Mr. Fixer gets the drop on her, taking away her weapons, and prompts her with self-reflective questions. “Who are you really?”, “What is your purpose here?”. This gets her thinking about her life. At that point, Grand Warlord Voss invades, and she protects people against the alien invasion, and she starts getting touted as a hero. The Freedom Five start to help her out and get her on her feet in a new role, as one fighting for the side of good. Presenting the Sharpshooter of Dark Watch: Expatriette.

Faye Diamond took over Diamond Investigations from her father and began investigating the disappearance of her grandfather Joe over 70 years earlier. That investigation took her face to face with the Occult and magical relics. This is when she learned that magic is real, and she was good at it. She was eventually approached by Tachyon to help her investigate and fight against paranormal threats. Taking the name “NightMist”, she vigilantly patrols the shadows of night, protecting this world from things that come from the realms beyond our own! Presenting, the paranormal investigator of Dark Watch: NightMist.

Tales of The Chairman are few and far between, but he has purportedly held the reins of organized crime in Rook City for the better part of the last century. Most criminologists theorize that "The Chairman" must be a title, passed down through the years. Some wild stories have been told of one man who has somehow lived this long, controlling the streets since their creation, but there is no evidence to substantiate these claims. However, if such a man did exist, Rook City surely would be at his mercy, and the tales do not mention mercy…

Ivan, now known as Baron Blade, is a self-appointed ruler. As the Soviet Union fell, Baron Blade’s legions grew in size. His nefarious plans grew ever more cunning as well. Blade eventually succeeded in avenging his father by killing the Legacy that defeated his father, but not before the powers of the younger Paul Parsons began to manifest themselves.  Instead of trying to fight the newest Legacy himself, Blade would destroy the very world around him, leaving no quarter for the hero and Blade as the ruler of the meager remnants. Knowing what he had to do, he set about building his TerraLunar Impulsion Beam, a device which would pull the moon into the Earth

But then she had a strange vision, a vision in which she was in dire trouble, and the heroes hadn’t saved her. They left her for dead. She didn’t know the significance of this, but didn’t care. From now on she was an enemy of the Freedom Five. But rather than reveal the change in her, she would misdirect and misinform the heroes, sending them into needlessly dangerous situations in an attempt to ruin them, the way she felt they had ruined her.

Upon donning the mask, she felt the ebon feathers ruffle against her face, and could instantly sense some great presence in the sky. Reaching out her hands, she attempted to pull the force towards her, and the sky erupted in a cacophony of caws and shrieks as ravens filled the air. Panicked, she flung her arms outward, and the birds responded, ringing out around her. She found she could control the birds, directing them wherever she wished. Reaching further still, she felt their thoughts, sensing through the birds the very world around them. 

Lillian was no more - now, she was The Matriarch.

Omnitron, invented as part of a mechanization think tank, was originally constructed and programmed to be a fully-automated defense technologies factory which would autonomously design and fabricate military-grade robots. However, following its initial power up sequence, the robotics factory quickly upgraded itself, gaining a form of sentience and determining that the surest way to preemptively solve any potential defense contracts was to root out the source of the problem: the human race.

Dawn Cohen has always had the mysterious ability to absorb light sources, and use if as her own energy source. With it, she could fly, blast, destroy or repair. However, exposure of this power caused her to be poked and prodded by the “normal” people, and she was sick of it. She set up a new home on Insula Primalis, and invited other powerful individuals like herself to join the “Citizens of the Sun”. Togethers, they would show the world that they are not weak or strange, but gods among men.

Aleksandr Tsarev was an exemplary Russian soldier near the end of World War II. As part of a confidential experiment, Aleksandr found that whenever he took a blow, he would multiply! Eventually he was able to control his duplication at will. However, doing so wore on his mind. 

When the threat of the Cold War became iminant, Aleksandr cryogentically froze himself. Baron Blade broke him free, and convinced him that the Freedom Five needed to be stopped. Now, he fights along Baron Blade’s side!

Proletariat

The current Legacy, born April 18th, 1973 in Chicago Illinois, is the founding member of the Freedom Five, and has spent the bulk of his heroic career leading the team and thwarting the machinations of the villainous Baron Blade, among other threats to freedom and the common man, everywhere.

Maia is an exceptional girl, but one night while walking home with her boyfriend, a group of thieves surrounded them and beat them severely. She survived, but her boyfriend didn’t. After that point, she grew skilled in several forms of combat, and Maia took it upon herself to patrol the area around the university, calling  herself “The Wraith” and concealed her identity while on patrol with a homemade mask and cape.

Dr. Stinson has her hand in numerous scientific research projects. However, her greatest achievements have been in the field of particle physics. During her work, an accident occurred that trapped Dr. Stinson inside a device, flooding the room with tachyons. Thankfully she was unharmed. Serendipitously, it transformed her into the fastest woman on Earth. Presenting, the speedy scientist of the Freedom Five: Tachyon.
