Another track composed and performed on the legendary Commodore Amiga using Soundtracker. The challenge? Pushing creativity within extreme memory limits—experimenting with a fresh direction while still layering diverse samples and chords. 

The result: a lower sample rate, but a track that carries its own unique character. Despite the constraints, I’m happy with how this tune turned out!

Lost Faith

Early 1992 soundtrack using the sample batch of a Korg M1. In those days we build our own samplers at school soldering our own AD Conversion boards bringing sounds in from other instruments. Done on a Amiga 500 found on my A1200 in 2025, more then 30 years later !!

To Be Or Not

In a lost age of pixels and prehistoric peril, one caveman embarks on an epic journey with a single, sacred mission: return the egg.

The Eggman Project is an original soundtrack to a game that never existed — but should have. Composed on the legendary Commodore Amiga, this soundtrack blends warm soft samples, earthy textures, and percussive elements inspired by the prehistoric age.

Expect laid-back grooves, subtle soft drums, and rhythmic shakers that echo the steady determination of a lone caveman pushing a sacred egg through a dangerous world. Each track evokes a different moment of his journey — from discovery and pursuit to near defeat and triumphant return.

Protect the egg. Survive the wild. Become legend.
The game never made it — but thankfully, the music did.

This story is a metaphor for my own path in life: stepping away from a youthful dream and a way of living filled with community, games and music. That period never fully disappeared — it lay dormant in the background, waiting to be awakened. In the meantime, life happened: I built a beautiful family with my wife and kids, and I grew a company that now exists for 25 years, achieving incredible things on the digital front.

Still, music has always remained an essential part of my life. The beat and the melody were constant companions, lifting my mood and carrying memories of those early days — the music of Chris Huelsbeck and the soundtracks of Hans Zimmer.

In recent months, reconnecting with the Amiga community has reawakened that inner spark: the urge to create new songs. This track is the result of that awakening — my return to my first love. Player One Returns reflects this journey, beginning with the Amiga and the original ProTracker module To Be Or Not, evolving into a crossover in Electronic / Synthwave that recreates the feeling of those times. 

I dusted off the Amiga 1200, fired up ProTracker, connected the MIDI module to the Korg 01/Wfd, and invested in a new audio interface and DAW controller for the Mac to bring those sounds into Logic Pro. Strangely enough, it all felt familiar, not so different from where it began on the Amiga 500 — only now with far more possibilities. But the lesson remains: don’t get lost in tools. It’s about the melody, the emotion, and simply pressing play.

With Player One Returns I’ve tried to stay as close as possible to my original way of making music, recreating the 80s synths and sounds that bring me back to those days — and hopefully move others too. 

This track is my maiden project after thirty years, and it’s only the beginning. So… let’s coin up!

Uploaded some Amiga & C64 tracks I could not find on Soundcloud. Mainly, paying homage to David Whittaker, one of my favorite Amiga music composer.

Most tracks come from Stone Oakvalley's Amiga Music Collection (SOAMC). The stereo mix version is used, which uses "65% blend mixed L/R channels". Some have a brief fade-in, fade-out edit by me to make for nicer transitions.

Jean-Paul developed a passion for computers and electronics at an early age, Born in 1974. His journey into composing began with the purchase of a Commodore Amiga in the late 1980s. Much of his music is rooted in the unique 4-channel audio capabilities of the Amiga. Between 1988 and 1998, he composed soundtracks for several Amiga games, including Odan, The Eggman, Storm, Venturer, and Mysticdream. 

As the Commodore era came to an end, he transitioned to CD-quality music production through a self-built studio, continuing to explore and innovate. 

Now, his work stands as a fusion of retro and synth soundscapes, capturing the spirit of the golden age of gaming and sharing it with the world.
