We are delighted to present to you yet another up and coming artist to the Dirt Crew family. Petals In Sound’s style is best described as a refreshing mix of deep electronics and atmospheric deep house.

This whole release represents a theme of change and a sense of being ‘reborn’. The 2020 pandemic changed everything for everyone and for Petals In Sound this included becoming a mother and embracing a new lifestyle. After more than a decade of living, working and partying in south east London, 2022 Petals In Sound made the move to the Merseyside coastal suburb of Crosby, Liverpool to create a new life for her family.

‘Citrus’ the opener of the EP delves into the changes brought by pregnancy. A powerful droning synth and heavy bass drive the track but always keeping it at a gentle pace and making it the perfect late night deep closing jam. The title track ‘See the Morning Light’ reflects letting go and embracing what new life brings. With the great piano opening it catches immediate attention and when that bass line picks you up this track evolves into a beautiful “summer” tune, uplifting and full of positivity. Her last new tune ‘Slack Jazz // Your Love’ is a lil dance floor anthem which brings synths-a-plenty and a driving bass hook creating lots of energy. Here as well the originality of Petals In Sound shines through the whole track and makes her style stand out.

Last but certainly not least we asked our new crew member KaySoul to rework “See the Morning Light”. He used the main piano loop, vocal snips and added his typical jackin’ beats, cut up style and soulful touch we love so much in his productions. We are pretty sure this track also has the perfect “cool” vibe for a hot steamy party in or outside. Enjoy!

On the flip of the Keep on Swindling pt. 3 EP you’ll find a special song from the Dam Swindle catalog: ‘The wrap around’. When released on Huxley’s now defunct ‘Saints & Sonnets’ label back in 2013, the release made its way into many record bags and sold out quickly, never to be repressed again. Discogs prices went through the roof, while the title track became one of the biggest tracks for Dam Swindle in their early years. Now, it will be available on vinyl and digital again through Heist. It's had a few touch-ups in arrangement and mixing for the 2022 mix, but the boys worked hard to maintain the rough edges that made the original loved by so many fans.

[MOT015] ALEX AGORE - SOLAR EP

2021 is a milestone year for Jimpster and the label he founded with Tom Roberts back in 1996. It was never going to be plain sailing all the way but their passion for discovering, making and releasing the music they love has seen them pushing into their 25th year with more enthusiasm and determination than ever before. Ahead of the release of his fifth LP, a four vinyl Jimpster Anthology and Remix EP we dive head first into the deepness of his "Soul Spectral EP".

The title track is widescreen, late-night house music at it’s most evocative. Crackling Rhodes chords hang suspended in the air like morning mist on Hackney Marshes while Greg Paulus’ lilting trumpet spins us out into the stratosphere. Live percussion courtesy of Laroye adds an organic depth to the track, creating just the kind of loose, enveloping groove that Jimpster loves to draw us into.

"Sanguine" continues the theme of sublime, heartfelt music for the body and soul, bringing together glacial synths, chopped piano samples with a simple, driving house groove which you will be more than happy to get lost in.

Flipping over we have "Think Of You Always", a more uptempo house jam but one that stays true to the ethereal mood of the release. Textured layers come in and out of focus giving just a fleeting glimpse before fading into the shadows. Some elements floating across the 6/8 rhythm ambiguously whilst others are locked machine-like to the rigid pulse of the kick drum.

Rounding off this special release we have Jimpster’s own Dub mix of "Soul Spectral" which pairs things back to the rhythmic elements, stripping away the harmonic elements to let Greg’s beautiful shiny trumpet take centre stage.
