Loading in the tunes is B10N (AKA the musical alias of Balakrishnan VK), who’s one of the few track-slingers dabbling in juke and footwork in the Singaporean scene. His love for the chopped-up, fast-paced genre stems from his natural inclination towards bass music, and he’s expressed this over the years through Juke It!, a party series that he co-founded.

For the 15-Min Flash Mix, B10N goes way beyond 4/4 here, playing with irregular rapid percussions and ramped up BPMs. He’s pieced together a mix of bumpy beatwork with slippery grooves, made up of machine gun hats, crispy snares and pulsating kicks that rock the subs. He even adds plenty of surprising accoutrements that add colour, like insertions of acid riffs and Tamil song samples.

We’re now slipping into episode 13 of Life In Arpeggio’s 15-Min Flash Mix. Let us now take a chill pill from the hectic world around us, and follow the escapist musings of veteran selector and producer, Jean Reiki.

Her episode of the 15-Min Flash Mix hopes to guide you into a cosy haven. Here, she begins with nebulous lullabies and ambient swirls, triggering a hypnotic ebb and flow that locks you in her rhythm. The meditative wave eventually opens up as it takes form and exhibits more electronic elements, exploring loungy deep house and wobbly dubstep. Listening to this is like waking up from a dream, transitioning from lumbering slumber to the invigorating jolts of life.

15-Min Flash Mix E13: Jean Reiki

Make iPhone wear my worn-out socks and recorded the sound of three switches at home. 
1. Water Heater (WH)
2. Hand Vacuum (HV)
3. Water Kettle (WK)

Everything else is done in Logic Pro. The first sound that I use is that of WH. It is looping for the most part of the track and I applied phaser, delay, tremolo to it. The next sound that I layered over is WK and I applied delay and spring reverb to it. HV sound only appeared around 1:27 min mark. There's subtle delay and phaser applied to it. 

I only stumbled upon the Disquiet Juno site last week, so this is the first time submitting my piece to the group. All in all, I really enjoy the whole process of recording and making this as well as listening to everyone's work in the group. Thanks for taking time out to listen to my piece :)

Spectral Meditation [disquiet0323]

DJ/Producer Kane Ian has been immersed in the world of house music since 1993. With over two decades in DJ-ing and over one hundred productions on his label Dustpan Recordings, he shows no signs of stopping.

Born in Singapore, Ian got the bug for electronic music in his early school years. He formed the now defunct Radiance Crew with William (aka Mr Pirated) and Ming Knackle, where they would throw weekly house music parties at various spots. Since the early 2000s, he has been invited to DJ at events and festivals all over the world. 

This includes cities such as New York, London, Chicago, Kuala Lumpur, Maldives, Boston, Milwaukee, San Jose, Los Angeles, Hawaii, Miami (Winter Music Conference) and Black Rock City (Burning Man). His music and DJ sets have been described as house music with influences from early techno to disco to hip-hop and jazz, funk and soul. Clubs he’s played at include the legendary Zouk Singapore, one of the world’s Top 10 Clubs as voted by international dance music magazines – DJ Mag and IDJ Magazine. Today, Ian performs at weekly shows, in front of thousands of club goers a year.

Jean Reiki is an established bass trooper in the Singapore scene, always working hard to reinvent herself as a music producer and as a DJ.  This contribution seems to be her 3rd appearance for MoustacheMusic Radio.  A few years ago she was a special guest sharing stage with us at  Vlasmarkt, Gentse Feesten.

1nce again she delivers a well balanced mix, a carefully compiled tracklist, consistently building up, keeping it interesting till the last second.  Note the bass heavy second track  'Worm Hole' from her own hands. Here it is, a muscled hour that goes straight to your underbelly. Pump up the volume. Playing this through crappy speakers does not make any sense.
