The song became a popular jazz standard and has been recorded on over 1300 albums and performed by countless artists. My Funny Valentine (Sax Quartet)

The song, written by Harold Arlen, first appeared in the 1939 film The Wizard of Oz. It is number 1  in the AFI's top 100 movie songs of the 20th century.  I arranged this track as a duet for soprano saxophone and harp trying to create a music box effect. Here's That Rainy Day

To my parents, Russell and Agnes Allison. 

Often on Saturday nights Russell and Agnes would go dancing sometimes with other couples but most of the time just the two and did so well into their later years.  I know they would have danced to this song.

The song, written by Johnny Mandel, was introduced in the 1965 film The Sandpiper. It won the Grammy Award for Song of the Year and the Academy Award for Best Original Song and is ranked number 77 in the  AFI's list of the 100 top movie songs of the 20th century. 
This is my arrangement. It is not all about the melody, although you hear it throughout the song it's about all the other stuff going on and later my counter melody takes importance finally giving "Shadow" its due at the very end. The song was written and recorded by Hoagy Carmichael in 1930.  However, it has been most often associated with Ray Charles, This is my take on it. Dedicated to Brown and Sande, no one reflects the spirit of San Francisco more. 

The song was written in 1953 by George Cory and is best known as the signature song of Tony Bennett. It peaked at number 19 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. It also reached number 7 on the Easy Listening chart. The song was selected for preservation in the National Recording Registry by the Library of Congress as being a culturally, historically, and artistically significant song of the 20th century.

The song was written in 1962 by Antonio Carlos. This  Brazilian bossa nova was a worldwide hit in the mid-1960s and won a Grammy for Record of the Year in 1965.  It is believed to be the second most recorded pop song in history.  This is my take on it with added rhythmic and melodic patterns. The Girl From Ipanema (Garota de Ipanema)

The song, commonly subtitled "Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire", is a classic Christmas song written in 1945 by Robert Wells and Mel Tormé. Nat King Cole first recorded the song in June 1946 and later recorded it 3 more times becoming a massive hit in both pop and R&B charts. The original 1946 recording was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1974. The 1961 recording was selected by the Library of Congress for preservation in the United States National Recording Registry as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.

I Was Someone Else

The song was written in 1954 by pianist Errol Garner. He composed it as an instrumental and lyrics were added later by Johnny Burke.  It appears on Johnny Mathis' 1959 album Heavenly and reached number 12 on the U.S. Pop Singles chart later that year.  This is my take on it. I did it as a duet for alto and baritone sax and a full sax section joins halfway through giving it a kind of fun ending. Let me know what you think about my version of Misty. What Are You Doing The Rest Of Your Life

The song is a popular song and jazz standard written in 1930  by Johnny Green. It was also used as the musical theme and underscoring in the American film noir boxing drama Body and Soul. It was recorded as a duet by Tony Bennett and Amy Winehouse in 2011 When the song reached number 87 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2011, it made Tony Bennett, at age 85, the oldest living artist to chart on the Hot 100. I did this arrangement as a basso nova alternating with swing and of course added a brief counter melody at the end.

Dedicated to Bobby.

The song was composed in 1965 by Heinz Meier and originally released in Germany as "Der Sommerwind".  It was first recorded in America by Wayne Newton but is best known from Frank Sinatra's 1966 recording which peaked at number 25 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and number one on the Easy Listening chart.

This is my revised version of the track I did a year ago. I added a rhythm section and if that wasn't enough,  just when you think it's over, I added a soprano sax introducing a new theme, and then the full sax section rejoins and gives Moonlight Serenade a fun ending.  The song was composed by Glenn Miller. It was an immediate phenomenon when released in May 1939 as an instrumental arrangement, though it had been adopted and performed as Miller's signature tune as early as 1938, even before it had been given the name "Moonlight Serenade." In 1991, Miller's recording of "Moonlight Serenade" was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame.

The song is based on the Charles Trenet French song, "Que reste-t-il de nos amours?" Louis Charles Augustin Georges Trenet was a renowned French singer-songwriter who composed both the music and the lyrics to nearly 1,000 songs over a career that lasted more than 60 years.
 In my arrangement, the alto sax takes the lead and I added a counter melody with the soprano sax and then a full sax section and a fun ending. Let me know what your thoughts are about my version of I Wish You Love.

Based on Nino Rota's masterpiece soundtrack from the movie "The Godfather". The theme and waltz are mixed with electronic effects and a countermelody I added to this hip-hop/techno beat. In 1993 I received my Master's Degree in Music.  At that time, as bills piled up I decided to pursue more lucrative endeavors outside of the music field and had not played a note in nearly 30 years.  Then in 2021, I saw this ad for a Yamaha YDS 150 Digital Saxophone and decided to get one and see what I could do with it after all these years.
