To my parents, Russell and Agnes Allison. 

Often on Saturday nights Russell and Agnes would go dancing sometimes with other couples but most of the time just the two and did so well into their later years.  I know they would have danced to this song.

The song, written by Johnny Mandel, was introduced in the 1965 film The Sandpiper. It won the Grammy Award for Song of the Year and the Academy Award for Best Original Song and is ranked number 77 in the  AFI's list of the 100 top movie songs of the 20th century. 
This is my arrangement. It is not all about the melody, although you hear it throughout the song it's about all the other stuff going on and later my counter melody takes importance finally giving "Shadow" its due at the very end. The song, written by Jeffrey J Allison in 2022,  begins with alto sax introducing the main theme then a duet with tenor and alto introducing a second melody followed by a Big Band feel and soprano playing a third melody giving it a fun ending.
