Features "Techniques Of Self-Destruction" originally a piece for eight speakers commissioned by Jerome Noetinger for l'Audible Festival, Paris 2012.

Born in 1975, Francisco Meirino is active since 1994 (as phroq until 2009) in sound and live performance, he explores the tension between programmable material and the potential for its failure by working mainly with the computer, magnetic fields detectors, reel-to-reel tape recorders, piezo transducers and various acoustic devices.

Bonnie Stillwatter is a conceptual collaboration of artistry and friendship between Will Oldham (aka Bonnie 'Prince' Billy), experimental rock group Watter (featuring a member of Grails), and Stillwater Artisanal, a nomadic brewer that mixes equal parts art and alcohol. This collaboration is an inspired one, the roots of which are a mutual respect and love, and the fruits of which are two side-long trips into dark cinematic folk-rock determined to find the light at the end of the tunnel. "The Devil Is People" begins not unlike the east-meets-west melancholy of Watter and Grails. Oldham's penchant for weaving singer with song is particularly resonant here; his first- person storytelling has an uncanny way of sounding communal – almost hymnal – when wrapped in ever-unfolding layers of warm sound. On the b-side, mercurial multi-instrumentalist/producer Bundy K. Brown (Tortoise, Gastr del Sol) explodes "The Devil Is People", rearranging and reinterpreting its multitude of instruments and voices into something more sinister – less a remix, more like a vital new limb growing from the belly of the beast.

The magic in Issa comes from Fegradoe’s powerful exploration of emotion and sensitivity, which leads to a deeply personal and revealing listen. The work evokes the scale of Michael Stearns compositions for film, whilst eliciting a minimalist undercurrent throughout. The album is sculpted from guided improvisation sessions in the studio with fellow musicians, traversing around the narrative of Issa, a young transient Jesus Christ.”

So begins "Catch Me Daddy", the award-winning* feature film from the Wolfe brothers and Film4 / British Film Institute / Studio Canal, underscored by the beautiful and bleak wind-ravaged music from Matthew Watson (a.k.a. Matthew Wolfe) and Daniel Thomas Freeman (whose debut album "The Beauty Of Doubting Yourself" was described by Norman Records "a profoundly moving piece of music ... highly recommended").

Set in the desperate small-town areas and unrelenting West Yorkshire Moors, the film follows Laila, a British Pakistani girl, and her Scottish drifter boyfriend, Aaron, in their attempts to escape her violently protective family. A relentless fever dream, as the Wolfe brothers subvert genre with a sense of poetic realism. Esteemed cinematographer Robbie Ryan (Fish Tank, Wuthering Heights) brings a haunted beauty to the landscapes and faces.

Due for release in the UK on February 27th 2015, the film has already garnered praise at the Cannes Directors' Fortnight and the London Film Festival from Dazed & Confused ("one of the most exciting British debuts for years"), the Guardian ("John Ford on the Yorkshire moors ... a fierce and boldly questioning drama") and The Hollywood Reporter ("gripping, highly charged").

Taking inspiration from such classics as the Popul Vuh score to Werner Herzog's "Aguirre, the Wrath of God", Carmine and Francis Ford Coppala's "Apocalypse Now" soundtrack and the opening moments of "High Plains Drifter" combined with the influence of Swans, Tim Hecker and English Tudor choral music, "Catch Me Daddy" almost exclusively uses a deliberately limited instrumental palette of piano, percussion and oscillators twisted, gnarled and ghosted beyond recognition to realise the sound of the biting moorland wind as it hammers against metal doors and rusted corrugated roofs, sings in the lonely high tension wires and distant choirs howl into the swirling darkness.

Other People is pleased to announce Abstract Speed + Sound, a new seven-track recording by Turin’s Daniele Mana aka Vaghe Stelle. Previously associated with Italian label Gang of Ducks and a current member of production group One Circle with fellow nationals Lorenzo Senni and A:RA, Daniele’s roots in the emerging Italian production scene run deep and place him at its center. His is a clear, utterly contemporary voice with a unique relation and keen ear to the relevant past. 
Taking its title from painter Giacomo Balla’s iconic 1913-14 work, the EP draws a critical line between contemporary digital music practices and the century-old Italian Futurist movement. Where Futurism obsessed over the automobile and its unprecedented speed, Daniele fixates on the newer precedent set by digital networks, how they move our bodies and how our representations move through them. The cover art immediately speaks to this: a digital self-portrait of the artist stylized atemporally as a Nefertiti bust and/or The Man Who Fell to Earth.
Following themes of self-making and reimagining, Daniele draws from a canon of definitive Italian films for his palette of fluttering, disembodied vocal samples. Highly processed, not exactly dehumanized, they’re evocative, yet impossible to trace—towing deep into the uncanny valley. Their haphazard arrangement and asexual timbre react to temper any masculine swagger boasted in the rhythm of these tracks. Rocky drums splash and batter like objects in viscous space, while shards of vocality replete the distortion. Follow the slipping downbeat of “Hyper” or the tragic syncopation of “Multiple Concentric Hexagons”.
