Jekks - Downtempo set practise WIP

Ranging from dark classical guitar music to an electrified band of  slow, sludge, doom, drone, feedback, math, noise, minimalism, yelling, experimental. etc. Sometimes a band, sometimes a duet, sometimes solo.

Ancient practises of mysticism, mathematics and music hold a sacred bond, shared knowledge and universal teachings. Jekks, a producer and multi-instrumentalist draws inspiration from ancient eastern music and seamlessly merges it with modern electronic music production.  Jekks has been a staple performer at some of Australia’s leading electronic music festivals including  Happy Daze, Earthcore, Earth Frequency, Mushroom Valley and Elements. 

Like a coin, there are two sides to Jekks. One, a slow moving expression through downtempo psychedelic electronica and two, a high energy dark psychedelic expression.  Join Jekks in the void between music and mysticism, join in the cosmic meditation.

A “Cassowary” track isn’t planned or conceptualised like a lot of my music. It is intended to be a raw emotional imprint of a Souls journey through space and time. There has been no greater release or therapy than the process of making and sharing this music.

Oh except dancing, dancings pretty alright. 
  
I’ve been mixing music as “Cassowary”, since around 2009, and was playing my own productions in my sets within close to a year. It seemsI have developed more than a few similarities with our namesake. Initially the inspiration was given by our somewhat avian dance moves, colourful plumage and stature. The male Cassowaries are also solitary creatures for the most part, except when breeding and raising the young. 

The species are solely responsible for germinating trees which are integral to the survival of the “Daintree” rainforest. Situated predominantly on “Kuku-Yalanji” country in north eastern Australia. It is one of the natural wonders of the world. Fiercely defensive of their family’s and their home, they are wild, passionate creatures. They are creatures of purpose.

Jag Singh is a Multidisciplinary Artist, an accomplished Indian percussionist (tabla, drums and electronica) and composer, with foundations in Indian classical and Jazz training.

Jag gets inspiration from the music of the world, natural rhythms and melodies. His style of playing is visually inspired; invoking images of old India and urban Melbourne (Australia) where he has grown up.

Jag also plays trumpet and flugelhorn, he beatboxes and creates soundscapes with his voice.

Folding Time is the downtempo/ experimental project of Danny Payton from Melbourne Australia.
 Folding Time aims to create surreal soundscapes that take your mind on a little journey with each piece of music.
