I wrote “Stand Still” at the end of my studies, during a time when things weren’t going so well. We often feel the need to keep moving, to fix everything fast, to keep up with the race, but sometimes it’s okay to pause.

That moment of slowing down and breathing felt like something we all need once in a while.

The song is about someone who stays by your side when everything becomes too much. No words, no solutions, just presence. With Stand Still, I wanted to capture that feeling of calm, and remind myself (and others) that it’s okay to just be.

J Rivers is a talented singer-songwriter from Amsterdam, he plays, writes and largely produces his own pop music, blending groovy percussion, big feeling synths with pop hooks over atmospheric arrangements and beats. He graduated on University of the Arts in Utrecht. Now he is using his creativity in his music and identity.
