Matthew Clanton is a Maryland-raised, Los Angeles-based artist who ranges in genres from Pop to Nu-Disco to R&B. With much of his music being self-written, produced and recorded, Matthew’s songs are an unfiltered representation of his heart and soul. 

Matthew has also collaborated with international producers, such as Neptunica, LANNÉ and A-P Connection, on songs amassing over 20 million streams. In 2021 he was honored to be the cover of Spotify's Main Stage Playlist with Neptunica and their song Love Is Gone . In January 2022, Love Is Gone entered the Spotify Charts in Germany.

With numerous collaborations in the works for 2024, he plans to continue to break through on a global scale.

I am passionate about creating poems and writing songs :) I am keen on singing and exploring the interplay of words, sounds and music. The music I upload mostly consists of short original songs which I create and record in my bedroom. I appreciate your feedback and insights and enjoy reading your comments :)

Songwriting and me: The urge to write tends to come in phases, sometimes it lays dormant and then, after its absence suddenly springs back to life; when least expecting or when most in need. I like its intrinsic freedom and ambiguity, the fact that sometimes it can fail to be comprehended by the mind but can still be understood by the heart. It speaks to those who let it flow within. It is a wonderful companion for those who open their hearts to its secrets :)

Like all who are impassioned, Rightly takes blissful delight in losing himself, in fully experiencing the thrill of surrender. And so he often writes with no desire to think, in an externalised reverie, letting the words cuddle him like a baby in their arms. They form sentences with no meaning, flowing softly like water he can feel, a forgetful stream whose ripples mingle and undefine, becoming other, still other ripples, and still again other. Thus ideas and images, throbbing with expressiveness, pass through him in resounding processions of pale silks on which imagination shimmers like moonlight, dappled with indefinite.

My career was in media, as a terrestrial radio DJ, who later wrote and produced radio and television commercials. Also spent time as a voiceover artist, producing commercials and long-form narrations for clients nationwide. Songwriting is something I always wanted to do, and it's a very satisfying hobby, even if it did take me awhile to get to it. I play just enough piano and guitar to create, and while I'm not a performer, I often sing in order to share my songs with you. All songs were written or co-written by me.
