Terrestrial Funk's third release brings us back to our home state of Florida. Traveling time to the year 1979 we find ourselves on the Gulf Coast in a city called Sarasota. Sal Garcia leads Omni, the resident band at the Columbia,  a Spanish restaurant operating in the city since the turn of the century. Sal and his band look to record a single ironically called Disco Sucks but the restaurant isn't willing to fund a record with the word 'sucks' in it, so the band changes the track title to 'Disco Socks'. The song is a disco odyssey with driving drums, ethereal flutes, playful lyrics, and a synth solo for the gods. On the b side there's a little latin number called 'Sarasota (Que Bueno Esta)'. An ode to their city, the song praises Sarasota for its beautiful women and precious beaches. Sal is still living his dream playing at piano bars in the city. He was kind enough to work with us on this release and we're grateful to share more Florida music with the world.

Unearthing lost gems from deep underground is RFX’s speciality. With regular releases on his own imprint Fauve Records based in Hong Kong, we saw it fit for RFX to grace us with 4 edits from the beyond for our first On Point Worldwide Edits series. The first track is a heavy boogie electro beat with a lovable crackling sound, a very rare tune found in the UK attics with a lot of luck. Following this is a groovy Italo influenced jam with a bouncy feeling, perfect for those weirdos to do their thing on the dance-floors. The third is a Kwaito edit with the simplest of flute melodies and a raw beat that gets you hooked in the first 30 seconds. Add a splash of acid to the track and you get a late-night anthem. Last but not least, a choppy break-beat style track with Indian percussions & dark heavy bass for all those sweaty clubs.

'Downtownsounds Classics Volume 2' is upon us, and with it comes Pablo and Shoey's brand new mix of Dinosaur's 'Kiss Me Again', the famed disco collaboration between Gallery/Studio 54 legend Nicky Siano and avant garde cellist Arthur Russell, featuring Talking Heads' David Byrne playing guitar. 

We used snatches of the song's many percussion breaks to construct a hypnotic new intro and chopped up elements from the original and the more instrumental Jimmy Simpson mix, all the while trying to put the Northern Soul tinged torch song at the very centre of it all. Having guested for Downtownsounds on numerous occasions, Siano worked closely with us on the mix, feeding us new ideas and edits over the course of the many many months of work we put in on this.We're massively proud of the result and we hope you enjoy it too! 

Lovely black 12 inch vinyl with full colour sleeve is scheduled for release 10 June 2013.....
