HOUSE OF MARICAS MANIFESTO / DONATIONS
From MARICAS we want to support our local and international community of artists, as well as create content for all our queer fam that is isolated in their homes. We know will get out of this together very soon. In the meantime, we have create this new digital platform called HOUSE OF MARICAS: the art of staying at home, where we will be doing live streamings, digital content, virtual exhibitions, challenges and interviews. Here we will be showcasing different queer / music / art content, created with a bunch of very talented artists / activists, for you to enjoy at home. The aim of this, apart of creating entertainment and learnings for our isolations, is to support local artists, that are losing their jobs due to this crisis. We created this platform to try to help our family of queer artists, that's why we kindly ask you, that if you enjoy our content and can afford it, to please make a donation to our paypal account. This donations will be divided entirely among all the artists involved.

Mostraremos diferente contenido de música, cultura queer y arte, creado por varies artistes muy talentoses, para que vosotres podáis disfrutar desde casa. El propósito de esta plataforma, además de crear entretenimiento y aprendizajes durante nuestro aislamiento, es apoyar a todes les artistes que están perdiendo sus trabajos debido a esta crisis, por este motivo, estaremos pidiendo donaciones a todes vosotres. Hemos creado esta plataforma para intentar ayudar a nuestra familia queer de artistas, por esto os pedimos que si disfrutan nuestro contenido, y se lo pueden permitir, que hagan una donación a nuestra cuenta de paypal. Las donaciones que recibamos serán divididas enteramente entre todes les artistes involucrades.

The mix itself is a tribute to my late brother Joshua Green who would've turned 34 on August 29th, 2020. I created a shrine dedicated to Joshua with dozens of photos,  his personal belongings that I treasure, as frankincense incense burned strongly through the night recording.

This mix goes out to Josh all day and to anyone who has ever lost someone they love.

KEXP MIAPW: Dedicated to Joshua E.L. Green

The 1st of October 2020 marks 60 years since the independence of Nigeria. Nigeria as we know it today though is not the same Nigerian Federation from that day, having entered its Fourth Republic in 1999. Just as Nigeria has undergone transformation after transformation in the 20th century, so has its music. Nigerian musicians, such as Fela Kuti, King Sunny Ade, and the Lijadu Sisters, have always been at the forefront of boundary pushing sounds. Today, artists from Nigeria and the diaspora remain amongst the foremost in creative expression. This mix exemplifies the diversity of that legacy, showcasing the highlights from the motherland and beyond, with contemporary giants such as Yemi Alade, Burna Boy, Jidenna and Wizkid. All the artists here, albeit largely Yoruba, bring an eclectic mix of firebrand sounds that speak to the history of Nigeria through their sounds, as well as its present and future, through their words.

We're back after a festive break with a mix from one of our top dons, co-founder Oli! As the cliché goes, this chuffin' legend needs little introduction. But... for the uninformed, and to give him some well deserved dues, we thought we'd have a go anyway. 

Since hosting the first Brudenell Groove party a little over 4 1/2 years ago, Oli's infectious passion and hard graft have established him as a standard-bearer of the party scene we hold so close to our hearts. Whether it be in the old den of KMAH, the dancefloor of Wire or many an early morning in the shisha bars and Woodhouse basements of yesteryear, his warm and inviting presence is unmistakable, and never unnoticed. On behalf of everyone, thank you for the encouragement to keep moving forward, the countless tip-offs, and all those late night walk ins! We hardly deserve ya :)

Unlike those formalities, his mix gets straight to the point. Just under an hour of dubwise selections geared for the club. If you like what you heard, be sure to check out his recently launched show 'Virology' on @narr-radio. Peace out!
