Nice track! For me I was waiting for a disruptive B section at some point to rattle things up a little. It also left me wanting more low end for such a funky endeavour. Good job!

One Synth Challenge #159: Surge XT

This song is made with only one open-source synthesizer called "Surge XT" in the Digital Audio Software "Reaper" with only a few free effects (EQ, Compressor, Limiter).

In this track for the OSC # 159 I used 33 instances of the free Surge XT synthesizer.

DAW: Cubase 11 Pro (Frequency, GEQ-30,  Stereo Delay,  Revelation, Tube Compressor, AutoPan and Maximizer)

Free 3rd party plugs: Panagement 2 by Auburn, Baby Come Back by Baby Audio, MCharmverb by Melda Production, Wider by Polyverse Music and Supermassive by Valhalla.

All sounds are TSOM originals. Except: Flutish Organ and the 10CC Choir Pad are tweaks I did with some wonderful presets by Martijn Deluxe. The Alien Voice has been created using the Vowel/Speech wavetable in Surge's TWIST engine.

Surge XT - Utopian Mornings

20 instances with almost entirely just surge xt fx. On 6/4/22 I did upload a much shorter version. You can certainly vote based on the older longer version or whatever you like. Just really felt like it didn't deserve the extra 90 seconds. Didn't want to take that bit extra of peoples' time. ..Gradually whittled it down from 6 minutes to 3. It just seems to take more than a month for things to percolate in my mind. Sorry.

Cakewalk DAW processing:
- Gain on buses, for mixing.
- EQ on final bus: High pass, low pass, small bump at 3kHz.
No compression, etc.

**Surge Storm** is an exploration of sound design in physical instruments and sounds. These are all my own patches, some of which are included in Surge. Most of the physical instruments here mimic generation and body resonances researched from real instruments, driven by controllers for mechanical setup and playing actions. This gives me a dynamic instrument that responds in a variety of articulations and styles, without needing samples.

Here, I've used a few time signatures. It has a wide dynamic range and frequency coverage, so you'll get the most from ideal listening conditions. Unfortunately, the thunder sound has lost a lot of its character here in the lo-fi Soundcloud playback. The download will give you the best experience.
