Warm alt-country sounds, brutally honest lyrics, and plenty of pedal steel guitar, again provide the backbone of this record. This time around however The Saturday Boy are pushing further boundaries on their second release; edging close to John Martyn/Nick Drake territory on “Stormy Skies”, epic gloomy indie rock reminiscent of The National on “Table Decorations”, radio friendly melodic pop choruses on “Lightweight Lover”, and there’s even the appearance of some fuzzy guitar solos!
