Cosmic Spot 068 - Jen Barnes

Mixed in December 2022. Bass music encompassing bits of Dubstep, Trap, Drum & Bass, Grime, etc. A mix of older tracks and somewhat newer ones with that come together with higher energy than I thought would happen with slower BPMs. Just me exploring the low end sounds of electronic music. The flowers are blooming all around us. Sometimes when I'm down, I just need to remind myself of how beautiful the world around us is. 

That makes 6 / 12 mixes for this year- halfway done with 2024. As always a concerted effort with a theme in mind; a slow burn from deep mellow lows to uplifting funky highs; a journey through house young and old; and with no particular concern for how long the final mix turns out apparently :)

I've spent over 30 years emeshed in the techno and house music underground. My youth was spent rocking out to classic rock, metal, old school electro, and Miami freestyle... and it shows. As DJ popgirl23, I got to play across the country and overseas. I won a lot of "Best DJ" awards in my hometown of Portland Maine, and held numerous residencies per week while being a sought-after DJ in the northeastern United States. After all that I eventually I needed a break from the party life. I stepped away for a decade and retired the popgirl moniker.
