Jen Jeniro formed in Snowdonia in the summer of 2005 as a result of a chance meeting between tambourine man Eryl, guitarist Llyr, secretary Gwion and a giant beaver-type water beast called the 'Afanc' on the way home from school one grey afternoon.
The 'Afanc' rose majestically out of the river with a vintage hammond organ, and a backing band of two trouts a seahorse, playing a pretty odd, yet average song. The boys were hugely impressed and befriended the 'Afanc; afterwards. He bemoaned his lack of gig opportunities due to his fifteen foot tall hairy, terrifying appearance . . . he needed a band of good looking, marketable humans to play his songs. And so Jen Jeniro was born . . .
The misunderstood beast's first batch of songs were released as an EP called 'Tallahassee' in late 2006 and following a number of personnel changes under the increasingly volatile 'Afanc's' orders, the psychedelic album 'Geleniaeth' was created in 2008 to relative acclaim (although it is three people's favorite album of all time). With the 'Afanc' descending deeper into drug (and pike) addiction the conveyor belt of chart hits had ground to a halt. The band were growing increasingly restless until the 'Afanc's' closest friend, Jeff The Seahorse, stepped in and penned the pop song 'Dolffin Pinc a Melyn' (Pink and Yellow Dolphin)which was based on his own experiences. This song was released as a charity single on cassette in the summer of 2010 (the band have adopted a dolphin called either Jennifer or Denzil with some of the proceeds).

The review turned out to be factually incorrect because the song is actually about a lonely seahorse finding love in the form of a pink and yellow dolphin. The single later went on to win Best Single of 2010 in Welsh music magazine, 'Y Selar' and won Song of the Year in the Welsh BBC Rock and Pop awards.
Following the single's success, and with the 'Afanc' more or less on the wagon, an (excellent) EP of slightly more melodic folky psychedelia named ‘Swimming Limbs’ has been released in June ‘11 and a shit Spaghetti Western film to accompany the soundtrack has been filmed.
