Emerald & Doreen Recordings once again delve into Eastern Europe with Ummagma, a Canadian-Ukrainian dream pop duo, who got their start in Moscow and have made enough waves there for a full-page spread in Rolling Stone Russia. Ummagma combines their love of indie rock, synthpop and electronica to create “dreamgaze” power pop. In these two tracks, stunning hypnotic vocals and lush blissed-out resonance create a sonic launching pad to the galaxy or the universe within while getting your groove on. In "Rotation", this occurs on waves of bombastic synths, and in “Live and Let Die”, epic guitar riffs lace with magnetic drumbeats to stage an astonishing dreampop fest. With a jubilant Stereolab and Curve-type feel, these addictive tracks lovingly embed themselves in your brain. Tripped out, Ummagma brings a soundtrack of reverie for both trailblazers and stargazers. This single is a teaser for several Ummagma releases on Emerald & Doreen forthcoming in early 2014.

Since exploding onto the underground music scene in 2012 with 2 independently released full-length LPs – “Antigravity” and self-titled “Ummagma” – the duo has been blazing a colourful, yet eclectic, path forward. Ummagma are a rare commodity in today's music scene: deliciously diverse, dreamy, and loaded with positivity.

In Autumn 2007 I interviewed a singer called Adele for Clash Magazine. Over a cup of tea, we chatted about the upcoming release of her debut album '19', getting papped, the smoking ban (remember there was a time before it?) and our shared love of Jill Scott.

I found the audio of the interview while cleaning my room and I thought I'd pop it up here. I've not edited it, so there's quite a lot of her clicking a pen and a heck of a lot of me saying 'um', 'cool' and 'yeah', but on the whole it's an interesting listen, especially considering how she has pretty much owned the album chart in 2011.
