This CD was the first of the 'United DJs of America' collections I ever bought and I always remember the haunting intro than opens up into the rolling Sanchez loop with quintessential S Man bass drop. This is what Roger Sanchez sounded like and every club he played at was on fire. This is the 3rd CD from him in our Classic Series... and he's there for a very simple reason, this sound made you dance more than any other.

With the opening track 'The Flame' by Fine Young Cannibals then Green Velvet's 'The Stalker', this CD sets the pace right from the start and keeps going. The second last track is an all time favourite... Roger S presents The Deep - 'Vibe'. A truly relentless mix CD showing Sanchez at his very best. So turn it up... and enjoy the mix.

META015 is  a beauty and the beast affair, fantastically executed in the great tradition of Metalheadz.
Kicking off with ‘Hungry For Atmosphere’ this stepper is a perfect set opener, heartfelt strings and keys give way to contorted mids and FXs, whilst the familiar vocal is processed into something altogether more sinister. The track clocks at just over 7 minutes and this says everything of the tracks ambitions, not pandering to anything but its own journey.
Next to step into the ring is ‘A Certain Flavour’ the opposite but yet perfectly paired track to go with the A side. Beginning with a very cinematic introduction it unravels into a growling bass led stepper with staccato drums before switching into a two-step drum work out, tailor made for dancefloors and DJs alike.

A release that we are very happy to kick 2014 off with, welcome to the new breed!

Wa Wu We; The Drum of Life.
Once upon a time there was a girl who lived in a little house with her mother and father, right next to a deep forest.
Like all children, the girl was full of curiosity and full of life. The curiosity opened doors to amazing imaginary worlds in almost everything she met on her journeys trough the woods.
One day when the girl was playing in the forest she came to a small glade. It was a peaceful summers day, sunbeams were shining through the canopy and there were songbirds in full throat all around. In the middle of the glade was a big stone, covered in moss. In the middle of the stone there was a hollow which gave it the shape of a big bowl. The night before, a great storm had swept through the forest and the stone bowl was full of rain water. The girl climbed up the stone and looked down into the water. The surface was completely still and in the water floated a purple star, shining so brightly it almost dazzled the girl. She jumped down from the stone, amazed by what she had seen and also a little bit scared. What was it? Could it harm her?
The storm had also torn some old branches from the big trees. She picked up two of these branches and went up to the stone again. As before, the purple star was shining in the bowl. Cautiously, the girl touched the surface with one of the branches, and instantly a beautiful tone rang out. The tone was so alive and resonant that the girl couldn’t say if she had heard it or if the tone was actually part of herself, so deeply did it seem to resonate within her body. The girl touched the surface with the second stick and another, deeper, tone was heard. This tone too seemed to absorbed her, but this time in a slightly different way. She closed her eyes and could sense parts of her body she couldn’t remember ever feeling before. When she opened her eyes, she could see that the star was shining even more brightly than before, creating a hovering light above the surface of the water. The purple light coming from the star was not outside her, she could feel the light shining within her, as if the star and the light were everywhere and everything.
Slowly the girl started to play with the sticks on the surface, each strike on the surface creating a new tone and a new wave of light, building up a song of sound and light. The sound was making the girl dance and the light was lifting her from the ground. Floating several meters above the stone, the girl noticed that she was not alone. The glade was full of different kinds of animal, all moving to the song, in unity but each one in a different way. The trees, the flowers, the clouds in the sky, yes everything

was pulsating and vibrating together with the rhythm and melody. She was the sound, she was the light and in its vibration she could feel the animals, the trees and everything else. Suddenly she disappeared. She was everything and she fell through eternity.
The next day when the girl returned to the glade, the rain water in the hollow was gone and she couldn’t see any star. But still, deep inside, she felt the unity of the dance and when she looked around at the trees, the flowers and the birds in the sky, she could sense that they were all part of this deep knowing.

For as long as I can remember, my mother has been telling stories. Her sharing these stories with me helped me to find ways to open doors to creativity. My mother is still a little girl, wandering through the woods. Now with grey hair and a slower pace to her walk, but still with the same vibrating force of imagination and the same love for the stories that comes to her. One of the stories she told me was about a little boy finding a very special drum in the forest, a magical drum filled with the power of dance. The drum helped the boy find his own dance and creativity, and to awaken joy and happiness when sharing it with others. The sort of joy and happiness that give us and the people we meet strength to investigate life; investigate the endless creativity that we all are part of.
Let the drum of Wa Wu We be heard, let it be played and let each of us dance the song of life, moment by moment. In the dance we can express what is now and get a direct experience of ... This! ... where there is no separation; where there is just for us to be.

this is the set liveset I played on the 4d system in amsterdam during my residency in April 2014. 
Equipment used: MFB Tanzbär, Clavia Nordrack2, TeenageEngineering OP-1, Arturia Microbrute and AbletonLive as master clock, sampler and midi sequencer. 

Everything on the 4D sound was tweaked by hand in real-time, as well as the whole arrangement. I preprogrammed some chords and grooves on my machines though. 

The 4D System is an advanced spatial sound system and the set is binaural (also called dummy head) recorded - in order to get an idea of how it sounded you need to use your headphones.

FROM BURN TILL DAWN:
" For the second year in a row, I had the honour of playing during the burn on the Warrior´s closing night... both times sharing the decks with a good friend, last year with Superpitcher as Pachanga Boys, this year with Barnt, who I convinced to come because his music fits so well to the place and situation… originally we wanted to have some back-to-back moments and some solo parts but we got so into it that we stuck together until the end for an almost twelve hour set… Such an experience… from the ritualesque drums to watching the man go up in flames until the sunrise, going through different peaks during the night with all this great people dancing between neon, lasers, fire and metal machines… it was so great to be part of this!! Thanks a lot to the Mayan Warrior crew, and thanks to all the warriors who were there…"

Rebolledo + Barnt - Mayan Warrior Saturday - Burning Man 2014 - Pt.1

I recorded this set live on DAT at the Wicked Full Moon on Bonnie Doon Beach in Santa Cruz, March 7, 1993.

This is easily one of my favorite recordings of all time.  Presented here are 78 minutes (1 CD) of a much longer, late night set on the beach.  Jeno goes from classic breaks to house to acid, as only he could.  You'll dance your ass off!!!

Thanks to Torin for returning a copy of this CD to me.  While I have hundreds of hours of live sets from the early 90's recorded on DAT, saved safe and sound, they all need to be copied to computer some day.  Lots of real-time transfers to do.   Luckily, years ago, I made a few CDs like this one...  Enjoy!

Interview:
1. Lucidflow: How does a creative day look/feel like for you?

Sebastian: I try to live a life where I have the possibility to be reminded about my being and at the same time be able to remind other beings about their being. You could say that it's an invitation of the being to the being to be ... Might sound stupid but at the moment I feel that this is the only true meaning there is. I try to let this be the intention behind everything I do; both in my daily life, my zen practise and my creative work in the studio and when I'm performing music on stage.
Like most beings I meet on this journey I also have loads of habitual patterns and unbalances that can be a hinder in keeping this pure intention strong all the time, patterns that I'm unaware about that hinder me and my surrounding to express creativity. Being aware and see this and also gather the strength and faith to face what I most of all want to escape is part of this practise, my daily life with my wife and two children, my zen practise and my creative work in the studio are all amazing ways to do this. This is the life I have right now and I'm thankful for getting this opportunity to let freedom take place; within and outside ...
