Maatribhoomi (A Call For Peace) is an Indian metal/Assamese metal song released in 2008 after the 2008 Assam bombings. The 2008 Assam bombings occurred on 30 October 2008 in the markets of Guwahati city and surrounding areas of western Assam. Reports indicated explosions of as many as eighteen bombs, causing at least 77 deaths and 470 injuries.

AMORPHIS - Death Of A King

This track is a general favorite of mine. The theme is motion in the midst of depression or misfortune, having the confidence that all sadness and events shape you further and further into the person you're supposed to be. Additionally, I wanted to describe the silent and gradual nature of depression in the verses, and keeping it secret rots through your being over time. The bridge represents the culmination where one can't contain it anymore, and the freedom of living life openly without fear. 

The bridge features a Gregorian chant (made of nine of vocal tracks of me. The words are "Curras ad noctem. Veni ad lucem Dei. Mane non in tristitia. Veni." (In English, but Latin is wayyyyy more awesome): "You run toward the night. Come to the light of God. No longer remain in sadness. Come."

This is going to be track 8 of 10 for the Easter Vigil, representing the period of time from Jesus' moment of death to His resurrection. 

This genre of music is really weird, if I'm gonna be honest. And super experimental. I totally get it if it's not your first preference, because it was't mine when I first made it in school. All of these pieces of "sound," as you will, I recorded in my first year of college from 2015-2016. As time went on, I looked more fondly on these pieces, and knew I wanted to save them for something special. So in the event of my current project, I wanted to the thread them all together. 

The first part of the three is a recording of myself reciting the poem Crows by Sophie Almon that I butchered and distorted into a living nightmare. It makes me imagine this flock of crows flying into the sunset behind the corpse of the Son of God, and the speaker watching knew who Jesus is, being confused, upset, and baffled. 

Crows:

They stream across the fading western sky
A sable cloud, far o'er the lonely leas;
Now parting into scattered companies,
Now closing up the broken ranks, still high
And higher yet they mount, while, carelessly,
Trail slow behind, athwart the moving trees
A lingering few, 'round whom the evening breeze
Plays with sad whispered murmurs as they fly.
A lonely figure, ghostly in the dim
And darkening twilight, lingers in the shade
Of bending willows: "Surely God has laid
His curse on me," he moans, "my strength of limb
And old heart-courage fail me, and I flee
Bowed with fell terror at this augury."

The second part is purely instrumental, made with synth patches that I constructed and my muffled, distorted guitar. This part represents His burial.

The third part has the most melody: the Dirge. Just minutes of sad reflection. I composed this third part as a piano piece that keeps you anchored despite all the cosmic chaos flying around your head.

There is good news at the end. The track after this will be the Resurrection track, and this project really will end on good news.
