Update 3/20/15 - Re EQ'ed

In the Angler Tunnel arrangement, I used a Celtic Harp sample that I thought sounded more appropriate than a regular concert harp, so I used that as the Surf Harp here. In a fun way that makes the previous piece contain a foreshadowing of the instrument Link is about to acquire. This would be inconsistent as I did not incorporate the previous wind fish instruments in their respective dungeon themes, but oh well.

Update 3/20/15 - Re EQ'ed

The part I really like from the original version was the oscillating triads that play at the end of the melody before it loops again. The rhythm gives off a feeling of reminiscence, that I wanted to develop more. This piece is similar to my arrangement for Kanalet Castle in design choices I made. I have no idea what kind of past the ghost had before he died. I wonder what was he hoping would be different when he revisited the house, but I guess we'll never know. What I like about sad music like this one is that the song itself is pretty optimistic, but because we understand the context it belongs in, the happier the piece in the gloomy setting, the contrast makes the listener sadder.

Update 3/20/15 - Fixed a couple of wrong notes found in the main melody

I decided to make a combined track for both Mr Write and Christine's themes, since they are almost the same. Nevertheless I kept their two versions distinct, so although they flow together pretty well, you can still extract the individual parts and play them independently. Mr Write's version is slow and sweet, representing his innocent yearning for someone to communicate to. I know he is borrowed from the SNES Sim City, but I chose to ignore it because the Mr Write here doesn't talk about city building. As for Christine, she is one mean dishonest person! How long would she keep that charade up before Mr Write decides to walk 5 minutes over to the animal village to visit her? That's why I made her version slow down rather than Mr Write's speed up. For the instrumentation I drew a little influence from the track Descendent of Shinobi from Final Fantasy VII for its similar upbeat melody.

I admit this arrangement doesn't sound like it would fit the context as much, but I needed another track to try out another riff of the Ballad of the Wind Fish: The Orchestral Swell. Imagine instead another scene, near the end when you talk to Marin again. She says she will never forget you, and will never forgive you if you do. She's probably laughing while she says it, but Link becomes overwhelmed by the reality that the person standing before her will cease to exist. That's when the swell of the orchestra comes in to amplify his emotions as he walks away.

Update 3/20/15 - Re EQ'ed

Since fishing is a game of patience and waiting, I decided to keep this arrangement more flat compared to what I did for Trendy Game. The section I added describes the casting of the line, waiting in anticipation, until finally pulling the catch in. I used the ratchet percussion instrument to simulate the cranking of the reel. Yeah, I see that the fishing rod is just a string without a reel, but who cares!
