“Trap Town” opens Dark Music For Dark People with a slow descent into the city’s shadow. A dark piano theme threads through the track, joined by distorted trumpet tones echoing like distant car horns. Wilt Flowers’ bass and Guy Stansfield’s clarinet weave counterpoints beneath Sticks Thompson’s restrained percussion, while Sonny Rhodes’ piano drifts between smoky melancholy and menace.

A haunting mix of dark jazz, doom jazz, and cinematic noir, Trap Town evokes the tension of deserted streets and flickering lights long past midnight.
