My kids say 'pop, you'll never get far'. I say 'kids, I'm going to be a pop star'.

Yup, I'm an unlikely pop star, and at the time in life when I should be heading towards retirement, rather than global superstardom.

My singing career began at a world-renowned Cambridge choir school. But it didn’t take too many 6am choir practises to persuade me that my passion was less for St Matthew, and more for pop. I'll always remember standing on desks, belting out Elton John numbers acapella at bemused classmates.

I also learned to play drums at school, and spent 1985 as drummer with The Cambridge Footlights on their ‘Topical Heatwave’ UK tour.

In 1997, I helped form six-piece covers band, Coverstar. Over the next twenty-four years, we would become each other’s second family.

Then in March 2021, I finally released my début EP, ‘Where the Elephants Go’ – a collaboration with my Coverstar bandmates Rob Carter and Paul Solman. It's fair to say that without them, the elephants wouldn't have gone anywhere.
