We made this nearly 15 years ago for our friends who were having a baby. She was to be named Stella Maya Delphine. She was born a few days after the track was complete.

Stella Propela was released as a 12" on the German label BTM Records in 1997, early in the summer. It was made at the Sony Flatline studio in Wuppertal, with Gregor Totz at the mix controls. I was still watching and learning, focusing on the story/arrangement and the individual sounds and melodies.

I remember being a little freaked out because of the hundreds of copies filling the label office, all with my name and logo on them. I had only been part of a compilation or two before.

When I arrived in San Francisco they thought it was a big deal I had a record out, and it sat on the shelf at the record shop in Berkeley when I walked in.

A bit of experimental music, delving into the capabilities of my analogue gear. Result sounds a fair bit like Musique Concréte, at times. At least that's what I think. I'm not sure Karlheinz Stockhausen would be too impressed, but I really enjoyed the session.
