Senso’s approach to delivering the finest in pulsating, dancefloor rocking techno continues with the release of the Level 04 EP. Featuring four killer tracks by four different artists, the EP provides
a welcome reminder of the rude health techno finds itself in during 2017/18. 
First up are STAB Virus, the South African duo of Siphe Tebeka and Makonwabe Bekwa, who are making waves internationally with their uncompromising style. Accompanied by Citizen Kain
- the French producer is adding his own signature slant. 'Torium' is a starkly effective slice of streamlined, sharp edged techno. Label favourite Carlo Ruetz carved out a niche for himself with
his ‘twisted technoid minimal’ sound, a philosophy he continues to adhere to here - 'Sky's Black' bubbles with menace and attitude, fizzing over into moments of barely restrained euphoria.
Mr. Bizz - the duo of two Italian brothers Fabrizio and Matteo Floris - maintain the quality with their cut 'Algarve' - a muscular techno outing with a narcotic, wonky edge. Another regular on the label - the UK’s dubspeeka brings his own flavour to proceedings - 'Aakash' is a superbly crafted burner - a pulsating rhythm track punctuated by abstracted melodic hits.

There’s a big reason to celebrate, as we face the 150th release on Cocoon Recordings! That’s right, 150 prime cuts with a number of milestones. It’s hard to single out any one for particular praise but even so, we still have something very special planned for the anniversary. With a certain affection, we wanted to present an artist from the region so it’s with great pleasure that we can unveil “Countach” from the one and only Butch, as a more than worthy anniversary release. The native Mainzer and sometime Berliner is without doubt one of the most dazzling German Tech-House artists of the moment. His performances contain a full dose of funkiness and his self-made promo videos never fail to entertain, providing a lot of fun in the process. First and foremost though, Butch is an exceptional producer, who, as one of the chosen few, knows how to mix together those special ingredients that drag us onto the dance floor again and again. What’s more, since we really have something to celebrate, we don’t just have an original from Butch, it’s accompanied by a remix from none other than Kölsch!

If the term "man of the moment" applies to any artist then it’s got to be Kölsch! At least that’s true when it comes to hypnotic techno with a subtle yet seductive touch of trance. Kölsch is currently operating on another level. Whatever he touches turns to gold, turns moments on the dance floor into unforgettable experiences to be written down in the annals of techno.
His Kompakt release "Cassiopeia", as well as his remixes including the Chemical Brothers, stand out as musical testimonies of the past two years. The series of musical landmarks from the house of Kölsch is endless and his remix of Butch’s "Countach" is no exception!

With poise and purpose like the Lamborghini of the same name, Kölsch takes us on an epic journey with his remix here, but as things progress he still has the foresight to jams on the brakes, keeping the dance floor honest by slowing things down to cruise control for the middle of his ride. What a trip, a true adventure, a techno road movie that could only come from Kölsch!
Of course, after a remix like that, there’s not much left to say but this is techno and our man Butch is anything but normal! He just knows instinctively how to bring things to the boil and demonstrates it very impressively again on his original version. Implementing a ‘nasty’ arpeggio line that captivates us before being hunted down by a prime-time filter, Butch summons up an acid monster that works without a 303 but is no less effective. If that’s not enough Butch also proves himself a master of ecstatic dance during the closing sections, serving up an emotional string arrangement that glimmers and shines. As a result, “Countach” with his nice fat strings becomes an instant dance floor catcher.

It’ll probably be very difficult to pick a favourite from these two mixes, which makes this cut even fatter! It’s a great release brimming with pathos and full-on emotions.

Long-term Soma collaborator Tony Scott drops his debut album with the label under his Edit Select alias, the perfectly crafted experience, ‘Cyclical Undulations’. Having released with Soma under his Percy X moniker for years and having countless hits under his belt, Scott reinvented himself as Edit Select. Known for his dark, expressive and expansive music, Edit Select has become once of the most well respected and renowned artists in the genre. With this latest full length, he continues to explore the furthest reaches of the  Deep Techno spectrum. 

The Cyclical Undulations journey begins with Insta Grain, a mesmeric odyssey of ebbing pads and sparse percussive elements that seem to drift of into the expanse. A perfect opener before the first foray into more 4x4 territory begins with Above Ground a pulsating affair before Two Step Phase, a more stripped back affair, reminiscent of earlier Percy X works in it’s 90s heyday. Undulation, more propulsive in it’s approach, melds warping synth hooks alongside spectral tones. Horizon#1 follows in a similar vein yet drift into slightly more hypnotic territory as recurrent tones lead the track. Scott flourishes with yet more machine-throb crafting Close Up & In The Beginning She Was, both stacked with subtle nuances of his stylised percussion lost across dream like states. The later half of the album has a distinct minimalistic approach yet seem to provide maximal output with every beat. Horizon#2 is dark and ominous yet still characterised by a tough percussive element. Contact, produced in collaboration with Claudio PRC, delves into more submerged sounds with heavy sub bass and echoed drums, finishing of with Towards The E; a shuffling broken beat affair with after hours vibes and an endearing ethereal quality. 

Cyclical Undulations demonstrates a mature sense of production from Edit Select. An assured collection of material, each track providing a striking insight into a true artistic mind.

With countless global shows and a discography which is increasingly getting longer, Schories' appeal lies in his ability to deliver undeniably infectious tracks, and deliver bang-on sets every time he performs. His 2016 album Relatively Maybe was the perfect introduction into the German's world; that is a world filled with lush melodies and tight productions. Last year he was also the first choice for Global Underground to reboot their famous Nubreed series, a job he completed with aplomb. 

But there is no rest for the wicked and Schories just released Blitzbahn, his fifth studio album. And on the upcoming album we are promised '13 expansive cuts that showcase his incredible knack for straddling that House/Techno mid-point with consummate ease'. Count us in. Born in Poland and now operating out of the ever-effervescent London, the adoptive city where she’s learnt the ropes of music production and Djing, Ańii – real name Ania Iwinska – has lived many lives in one. Yet if one thing’s remained a constant over the years, no matter the harshness of the obstacles life threw at her, it’s indeed a deep and inextinguishable love for music; be it behind the mixing desk at Wired Studios or in her own Shoreditch workroom, the key place where she’s kept honing her skills with unfazed diligence, up to the point of making it her actual second home.

Ańii lands her debut transmission on Kompakt and surely not the last. Named after the Polish word for ‘roots’, ‘Korzenie’ finds Ania threading her way in between subtle deep-house and techno folds, delving into the essential strength of her past and present to carve out an hypnotic maelstrom of traditional Polish music strings, tribal percussions and elegiac melodies. Coupling eerie ostinatos with stealthy bass moves, it’s an ode to the magnitude of memory and power of resilience that reels out, blurring the line between late night club environment and further spacious, moony soundscapes.

Replug Records continues its 2018 journey by welcoming Navar to the label for his debut EP. Through releasing material on Guy J's Lost and Found Records and Canadian behemoth microCastle, the Dutch artist emerged in 2014, firmly establishing himself in the world of deep melodic house. More recently Navar lent his talents to the long standing Belgian Events brand EDGE, launching their new imprint alongside a remix from Guy J as 2017 came to a close. The Dutch artist now steps into the new year with his long awaited debut for Cid Inc's Replug Records.

Beginning with the EP's title track 'You Find' it becomes evidently clear what a unique talent Navar has become. The near twelve minute opus effortlessly melds elements of minimal, deep house, progressive and electronica, for a free flowing journey that has become a synonymous and inimitable style of the Dutch artist. Deep and fluid throughout, it's delicate motifs and organic designs are mysterious yet emotive, backed by a warm, pulsating groove, underpinning the track and translating it's spiritual message to the dance floor. 

The lone interpretation of 'You Find' is provided by Replug label artist Dmitry Molosh who returns for his third appearance. The Belarus producer's debut on the Finnish imprint proved impactful, making its way into the sets of Hernan Cattaneo and Guy Mantzur, eventually leading to Beatport chart success and releases on Plattenbank Records and Sudbeat Music. As 2018 begins, Dmitry sits as one of the most exciting and in demand artists in progressive house, having toured the world, showcasing his fresh take on the genre while his productions remain on the cutting edge. Now presenting his first remix of the new year Dmitry brings 'You Find' a step closer to the dance floor. Encased in a soft hypnotic shell, it's reshaped groove and rhythmic pulses are transcendent, building momentum as the melodic storyboard takes shape. Atmospheric overlays and fuzzy stabs add further warmth, before the second of two breaks ventures into hazy harmonics and hopeful vocal phrases, creating a wispy musical collage to close out the eleven minute journey.

The second odyssey 'Moonstruck' follows the smooth, organic qualities of its predecessor. Possessing more of a dramatic undertone, raspy stabs and crisp percussion drive the framework, as freeform harmonics create a charismatic canopy. Transferring energy into the second act, spiralling motifs slowly decay into a wall of white noise as the groove drops with thunderous affirmation.

In a world of homogenous sounding artists, Navar's Replug debut sees him raise the bar once again, setting in motion what promises to be a monumental year for the Dutch producer.
