The air is pregnant with expectations and the atmosphere is sweeping through the music circles in South Africa as once again from Durban surfaces another amazing breed. Staking her album, Jacqui brings a vibrant sound deeped in Pop, Gospel and Rock arena.
 
Jacqui first began singing gospel music, much like die hard music fans by chiming along to radio and singing in church. Jacqui’s inspiration is drawn from music extra-ordinaries in the form of Cindy Morgan, Celine Dion, Rachael Lampa, Mariah Carey and Jaci Velasquez. She concedes that most of her music is sung and written about her life experiences as well as life has been her other inspiration.
 
Displaying and portraying a deep passion since the tender age of 15 years, Jacqui was encouraged and influenced to take music more than a hobby and pursue her music career by her very own musical inclined parents. Jacqui eagerly took the opportunity to bless people with her Godly beautiful voice at her congregation. She furthered her ambitions of being a songstress by taking music classes at school and as well as going further and studied the Piano, she later expanded her rare musical talents at the renowned DCC School of music. In 2002 she entered Pop Idols and things didn’t work out as she thought it would, over the years Jacqui has learned that what doesn’t kill you can only make you stronger and so did the pop idols experience as she came out stronger and much wiser personally and as an artist.
 
Jacqui’s goal is to present who she is, what she is going through and what she has gone through and overcame musically, as she is certain most people have encountered the same fortunes and misfortunes hence it will be easy for people to relate to and be encouraged by it. Jacqui wants to first conquer South Africa and Africa as a whole and take her music to a supreme international level where she desires to work with established international artists to further advance her career because as a musician and as a person she believes one can never grow enough.
 
Most of Jacqui’s music is written by RnB artist Verd. Jacqui herself, co wrote some of her songs. Jacqui’s music is engineered and produced by VALLY & VERD (formerly Brotherhood Productions) who have a lot of hits under their belts, they have produced for the likes of Jae, Pitch Black Afro, Mandoza, Jerusha, Verd and a lot more.
 
Jacqui is not only a musician but she is also a businesswoman as she will be released under her own record label Deep Eden Records, amazing!! Isn’t she? Jacqui’s long term goal is to nuture, grow and release young and upcoming artists because she understands very well where they come from.
 
Her debut single “How could I just walk away” is a crossover song which teens can enjoy and their parents can move to as well. The flow, continuity and balance between the vocals and instruments is testament to her ability and extreme talent that God has blessed her with. Her second single “Free” talks a lot about freedom that God has given to us and it is a refined, mellow song that you can enjoy early Sunday morning driving to church or at home relaxing with your family, it portrays the versatility and intelligence of Jacqui as an artist.
 
In what seemed to be a whirlwind, though with Jacqui’s talent, hardwork and dedication for the past 5 years, Jacqui releases her much awaited album.
 
Jacqui’s album is not just audacious, accessible or off the moment, its personal yet universal, uncompromising and yet inviting. This is a rare album that actually makes a difference and as a result its stands right alongside the pivotal works of the artists who have inspired it and the other major role players in the music industry.
