This was a CD that i did in 2001, representing the sort of stuff i was banging out at the London Squat raves around the turn of the century.. Loads of dancemania mixed up with bits and pieces of full fat techno with a few double copy mashups and loads of scratching.. Sold quite a few of them through the record shop that i worked in in Camden (Dragon Discs) but i thought i'd lost it until i was sorting through my basement today and found a solitary CD.. So hope you enjoy.. This one's for the sunday morning squat party crew :-)

It's the ten year anniversary of the Pause Tape 2 [Mixtape]
This mix was kinda done as a tribute to the dj's I grew up listening too & was inspired by. Dj's like Too Tuff from Tuff Crew & Jazzy jeff as well as Dj Supreme & Undercover from the mighty Hijack. To me those Dj's (plus many others) were the main focus of the music as far as I was concerned. A prime example being Mr Mixx from The 2 Live Crew, I really didn't care for their lyrics but I loved the Dj only tracks like "Mr Mixx on the mix" etc
This mix references the great Mantronix, the way he edited tracks was pure genius. And so it's also a throwback to the pause button edit mixtapes that most of us started our journey into sampling with.
It's a rough & gritty ride through battle breaks, dusty samples & heavy cutting.
There are way too many tracks & samples to list (there are a few of my old tracks hidden in there as well). All I can remember is a hugh pile of records & a busted Vestax PMC 06 battle mixer at the end of doing this mix.

Legendary and largely unsung heroes, trailblazing their way through Acid house, Hardcore, Breakbeats, Hip Hop and more in the late 80's and early 90's..They were played constantly on all the pirate radio stations and at raves and went on to work prolifically under various other guises on Ninja Tune, Suburban Base and with DJ Rap, formed The Freestylers and continue to this day pushing music. This is a collection of their best work, cherry picked by Fat Hop and REMASTERED especially .. Limited edition Vinyl for all those who like to know where today's music has come from .

Itsu Uno: Revenge of the Hipster (Available NOW on Fat Hop records)

In the first week of September we're heading to the beautiful scenery of Tisno, Croatia, to celebrate the first edition of Dekmantel Selectors. In the run up to the festival, we’ve launched a new temporary podcast-series where we invite ten of our selectors from the festival to dig deep in their unique collections. The idea behind the mix is to create a Time Document, focusing on a specific period of time with the artist being free in choosing this period. This period could in fact entail anything: a certain decennia, the time he or she fell in love, The Cold War, November ’92 – March ’93, or the rise of Nigerian music. It’s up to the Selectors to choose and tell us a story based on their music collection.

Selectors is definitely what these two men are. Eaglemen, consisting of Sander en Sasa, are masters in collecting the records that will most likely make everyone jealous. Whilst traveling the world to dig in all dusty crates and corners, they create a tropical oases within their dj-sets. Listen to one of their mixes and you will win a free (auditory) trip to a place likely to be warmer than where you are right now. This is why their broad selection of records will blend in perfectly in Tisno.

Their laid back Selectors Time Document is inspired by their very first shows at Red Light Radio. "The music within this mix has no specific genre, it’s a true pot of tracks we like to listen to. It consists of a lot of skits, voices, quotes and soundbites from all kind of things we found on the internet. When we first started our radio shows at Red Light Radio, Palo Santo played his music from iTunes and twisted it with effects through a 404 sampler. Sasa used to bring a big computer screen into the radio studio, as he only had Ableton on his laptop which had screen damage to play the skits over the music. It was a fun to see how these sets turned out."

Another inspiration for the mix was Palo Santo's side project with two friends, called YujYou. "YujYou did a lot of skits, music concrete and jazz, and they’ve made a total 29 mixes. These included loads of obscure jazz and literary music with a lot of music bites and interviews about LSD trips, comedy and such. Palo's part within this mix is also inspired by those days."

Conceived in the cultural cellars of Bangkok, Thailand, and Geneva, Switzerland, this 9-track LP by Jerome, aka ‘Yantra Mandir’ and ‘The Dude of Stratosphear’, casts a wide net over experimental meditative ambient music, progressive drone, Brahmanic accents, and ritual oscillations. 

Together, this work represents a 20 year journey in Geneva of musical production, artistic expression, and the melting pot of experiences fused with the rich legacy of Indian spiritual sounds. 

The LP is partly a collaboration between five close collaborators, each contributing a single sound to complete the multiculti jigsaw, and partly comprised of field recordings of Bopa musicians from Rajasthan, in northern India. Added to the confluence are intricate layers of electric bass and electronic vibrations. 

The name derives from ancient Sanskrit words emblematic of the overarching sound. Yantra is the Sanskrit word for mystical diagrams found in the Tantric traditions of the Indus Valley. These diagrams are used to worship dieties at home or in temples, as a meditation aid, and to activate the various benefits and occult powers as defined by Hindu astrological and Tantric texts. 

Mandir is the Sanskrit word for a place in which a still mind and soul float freely search of life, peace, joy, and comfort. For centuries, the mandir has remained the nexus of a community where people forget their differences and voluntarily unite.

Presented on a double gatefold, 180 gram vinyl, and limited to 300 copies, “Garden of Reality” is the musical meeting point between Europe, Southeast Asia, and India — and everything in between from past, present, and future.

The Freestylers proudly present their second single "You And What Army" as the follow up to their recent smash "The Coming Storm". Included in the full package are exclusive remix treatments by Marcus Jakes and Manufactured Superstars. 

With the presentation of their previous hit single, The Freestylers not only launched a bona fide assault on the music scene with a unique blend of dub and jungle, but they also announced the release of their upcoming album by the same title "The Coming Storm". Two years of painstaking, hard work had finally paid off: Matt Cantor and Aston Harvey are back with all the hallmarks of a classic Freestylers sound, but spectacularly ramped up for the new era.

For the single release of "You And What Army", The Freestylers decided to expand from the album version by teaming up with one of the U.K.'s hottest new talents: Marcus Jakes. The Cardiff based DJ/producer, known from his remixes of Animist's "Tin Head" and Kinky Movement's "Loco Love", built up quite a reputation with his exciting synthesis of garage, 2step and deep house. Jakes approached the original from a deephouse/garage, subtly Balearic angle on the old skool tip and tailor-made "You And What Army" for the sun-soaked live sets of this year's season. 

Second act to deliver a remix are the NASA apparel sporting Manufactured Superstars. The DJ/producer duo from Denver, U.S., reaped high acclaim with their singles "Freak On You", "Drunk Text", "Serious", "Silver Splits The Blue" and "Top Of The World" and stun audiences all over the world with their highly reactive DJ sets. The Manufactured Superstars gave "You And What Army" a main room/electro house makeover that will have the party goers pump their fists in the air. 

The Freestylers showcase their versatility as producers with "You And What Army" and once again knuckled down to bring out the best for DJs and the people on the dance floor.
