"The main body of my [Amselysen’s] work as a musician relies on producing hybrids, between recognizable genre tropes and subverting these tropes, in hopes of advancing the limits of musicality. Naturally, this interest is reflected into my DJ sets, which are always more “editorial” than dance-focused. For this specific mix, I allowed myself to delve into soundtrack works, especially video games; they have been one of the main reasons why I got into music in the first place because of the leftfield approach composers used for a medium that used to be so shielded from standard mainstream expectations, especially musically. Otherwise, I always try to pay respects to my contemporaries who dare being a bit more extreme and adventurous in their musical philosophy, stance, and process. As such, this oddball mix is centered around textural and emotional qualities rather than rhythm or melody, all packaged into a violently dynamic form — brace yourselves!"

This week's mix feature's Taiwan based hard drum heavy weight, B E N N. After an extended stop over in London, B E N N temporarily returned to Taiwan inspired, with a commitment to create. He has since been producing high definition, percussion-heavy hard drum tracks at a furious rate. His style draws from genres on the bass continuum, merged with traditional Taiwanese sounds and his innate and unique sense of rhythm.
With the influences of hard drum, he attempts to reach out to diverse dimensions of production, with natural sounds blending into different asian vibes with broken beats. B E N N has releases by labels like The Collection Artuard, Kepasaparodoks and Early Reflex,
which also got him chances appearing on radio shows such as NTS, Balamii, Ma3aze,HKCR.

His upcoming EP will be released by London based label House of Reptile Records, also participate in the compilations by labels such ​​as chanoirs, Club Late Music and Jupiter4.

Altered Motive
Night has already exhaled, and in the hush before dawn a small force hangs in the air. It doesn’t flap its wings—it quantizes the air: a short stroke, a pause, another impulse, as if the music were testing the load-bearing capacity of silence. Altered Motive is the moment when the thrust stays the same but the trajectory shifts at a deeper level—by the DEEPNAS canon: not louder, but closer; not faster, but sharper.

Drillcut works at micro scale. His hit is a metronome’s needle; the bass a warm contour that holds altitude while everything else pivots in place. Every percussive figure is a sip of nectar: brief, directed, without excess sugar. The sub doesn’t crush—it stabilizes, building an invisible platform for the listener, that very DEEPNAS depth on which you can hover, turn, and slip sideways without losing level.
