I think a big part of music for me, is referencing youth and nostalgia, and Drifting Away plays on that idea of getting lost in your own world and doing your own thing. The mindset when we’re young is that we can take chances all the time, and as we get older sometimes this idea fades. I hate that feeling, but i think we’re all guilty of it. After doing something for awhile, sometimes we need to stop for a moment and think about why we started doing it in the first place. This song is about wanting to get back to that mindset, to push outside your comfort zone, surrender yourself to the unknown. Embrace what makes you original and challenge yourself, it’s the only way to get better. Drift into your own world and embrace it.
