To celebrate its 25th anniversary, Defected Records presents a series of extra special collaborative releases Together, integrating talent from the label’s storied past and the stars of its future. One of the OG Defected House Masters, Dennis Ferrer’s relationship with the iconic London label is checkpointed by a vast number of innovative originals, guiding house through many eras from soul and gospel to Afro and techno. Now renowned as one of the instantly recognisable anthems of modern house and the Defected catalogue, ‘Hey Hey’ receives two Afro house remixes from Jack Back and Da Capo & Kitty Amor. One of electronic music’s most recognisable artists, David Guetta created the Jack Back alias to return to his house roots, releasing the chart-topping Defected hit ‘(It Happens) Sometimes’ in 2018. Toolroom welcome back rising talent KC Lights as he delivers his latest single ‘Girl’ this August.
An emerging star within the global house scene with releases via Ultra, Armada and Big Beat to name a few, plus remixes for MK, Sonny Fodera and Jax Jones, Glaswegian DJ, musician and producer KC Lights has grown to become a key member of the Toolroom family since making his label debut in early 2019. Having recently mixed Toolroom’s first ever ‘House Party’ compilation, whilst also collaborating with Kittball Records co-owner Juliet Sikora to deliver the slick ‘Tonight’ as part of the label’s recent collaboration project, ‘T2’, early-August welcomes an impressive return as he delivers his single, ‘Girl’.

Making his Anjunadeep debut back in 2017, Stockholm-based producer Hosini now returns to the label with his ‘8 Hours, Still No Rain EP', the title track of which was first featured on the label's flagship compilation ‘Anjunadeep 11’.

A collaboration with fellow Swede Jones Meadows, ‘8 Hours, Still No Rain’ pulls from elements of ambient and melodic electronica. ‘Kunzite’ features cascading textures whilst percussive-led ‘Potion’ demonstrates why Hosini has been championed by the likes of Lee Burridge, Martin Roth, Darin Epsilon and Pete Tong.

One of the most exciting new artists on the storied Anjunadeep roster, UK-bred / Cincinnati-based producer Marsh (aka Tom Marshall) soars into autumn with the release of his new album ‘Lailonie.’

The LP is a testament to the healing and spiritual power of music in the face of tragedy, coming together in the wake of the unexpected passing of a beloved family member. 

Written over the past three years, the album is inspired by this and other impactful life experiences, along with some of the beautiful places Tom has visited whilst producing the album.

“Lailonie’, pronounced ‘Lay-lah-knee’, has been a safe place for me to express a multitude of feelings, moments and memories I’ve experienced over the last three years. The album is a series of snapshots taken at different points as I’ve processed moving to a new country, getting married, traveling to different places. I’ve also experienced the pain of loss. We unexpectedly and suddenly had to say goodbye to Maddy’s Mom Carme at the end of 2018. I’ve had to rapidly learn how to love and stand by Maddy as we process this pain. We live in a world with so much going on. I think it’s important to have a safe place where you can go to catch your breath, process life and grow.  Lailonie has been that place for me. I hope it can be that place for you.” 

‘Lailonie’ features collaborations from a wide array of talented artists including organic house music producer Wassu, soulful, jazzy vocalist Leo Wood, UK producer Phenoir, Cincinnati-based vocalist Mariel Beausejour, Austin-based songstress Mimi Page, and progressive house producer Forerunners. 

Marsh’s music has been supported by the likes of Joris Voorn, Kölsch and Rufus Du Sol, along with Pete Tong, Danny Howard and Phil Taggart at BBC Radio 1. On the live side, Marsh has performed at esteemed venues on both sides of the Atlantic, including Printworks London and The Brooklyn Mirage.  
With ‘Lailonie’ Marsh continues to tell his story of healing and inner peace through his enchantingly deep and progressive sound, and looks set to follow in the footsteps of fellow Anjunadeep alumni such as Lane 8, Yotto and Ben Böhmer on his rise to the top of the dance music world.
