Filthy McNasty is one of the most progressive groups performing today. Consisting of only two members whose main musical responsibilities are drums and bass, the group also incorporates loops, sampling with foot and drum pads, a laptop, as well as a keyboard to create lush instrumental musical soundscapes that sound like a live performance from a stage full of musicians. Combining these organic and digital musical sounds, Filthy McNasty covers styles that range from funk to latin songs, both original and covers, performed completely instrumental. Their recorded material is more akin to a major motion picture soundtrack, while their live performances leave audiences wondering how two people can possibly perform all of this music simultaneously.

Ram Eshwar Kaundinya is a tabla player and multi-percussionist. A long time student of Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri, drum set student of Chuck Brown, and member of Professor James Newton's Charles Mingus Ensemble.

Jesse Stern has been playing music most of his life. Born in Corvallis, Oregon, he grew up learning the love of music by listening to his Dad play guitar and his Mom sing. He began his musical education during elementary school, studying classical piano, and then moved onto jazz and classical guitar studies through middle school and high school, further going on to receive a degree in Jazz Guitar Performance from Portland State University. 

After graduating Jesse began to practice different types of yoga and found an especially deep connection with the practices of Ashtanga, Bhakti, and Nada Yoga, the yoga of sound. To further explore Nada Yoga, Jesse relocated to Marin County, California in the spring of 2014 to study classical Indian music at the Ali Akbar College of Music in San Rafael, learning tabla from Pt. Swapan Chaudhuri, and vocal study independent from the college with Smt. Kankana Banerjee.
