Originally formed as a grunge and heavy metal band, New Wake has been a working project since its creation by guitarist Carlo Hinojosa in 2007 but has now drastically changed its stylistics to a more artistic sound including elements of avant-garde, noise, shoegaze, ambient, drone, electronic, and progressive rock. New Wake compositions vary from strong brass rhythms to emphasis on melody as well as innovating beyond conventional structures. Although New Wake currently contains drums, vocal, guitar, and few syth incorporation, the band is minimalist without sounding "minimalist". The band creates atmospheric feels out of the versatile use of limited instruments.

As many friends have charged me along the years and as I have got the experience, I decided to do what I should have done some time ago: To produce and remix my favourite tracks!

I started this work in August 2008 for fun only, then I got the feeling and nowadays I have got 50 remixes done and ready to be compilated on a limited edition of 100 promotional copies.

The projects and tracks to be chosen have been a hard job to me as this is a 27 years of musical knowledge and collecting records (I started when I was 10 years old).

The rules to choose the tracks have been, in a majority, the tracks never remixed previously or remixes very close to the original tracks or very good but too short to my own taste.

Whose tracks and projects to be remixed? As my background is the old school from the Pos-Punk, Industrial, Gothic Rock, Synth Pop, Minimal Wave to Electronic Body Music, then why not to have remixes for these sort of music?

How are the remixes? Well, as they are classical projects of the underground names I decided to keep it to the closest original version in a way that it makes me enlightened to the track, avoiding modifying the original background neither the vocal and melody.

What is going to be the title of my remixes? I like the obscure, the unknown, so why not Dark Side?
