When I linked up with reggae singer Toian and Sean of Class One Music, I offered to do a remix to their successful song "rudeboys", to hear her voice behind one of my hardcore new age reggae styles. And it worked out just as I thought. I wanted to add a certain duttyness" to the record. I always give my reggae productions that modern touch, this time with some hip-hop/trap influence just like how Maroon Riddimz would do it. Enjoy the new age of reggae my friends.

The track is part of Natural High's Urban Roots Project which is a compilation featuring Jesse Royal, Jovi Rockwell, Keida, Keznamdi, Dre Island and a host of other artists. 

Equally sweet and hard-hitting, the catchy song highlights Kelissa’s crystal clear vocals and sentimental melodies played by a cadre of exceptional instrumentalists —Nambo Robinson on trombone, his son Nnamdi on lead guitar and Wayne Armond on riddim guitar, with Everald ‘Stingray’ Gray on trumpet and flugle. Bringing it together seamlessly alongside her lead and supporting vocals are background vocalists Hectar Lewis and Jamar ‘Chronixx’ McNaughton, who is also responsible for mixing the track. 
 
Best Kept Secret’s easy harmonies are flavoured with old school lover’s rock and strains of dub to take you on a journey into Kelissa’s heart and mind. 'Stronger Than Ever' is a collection gathering all the best talents of Italian reggae scene in one single album, giving a full dimension of what Reggae music is in our country nowadays.

The album combines the presence of the best bands and Italian producers who, in the past few years, have taken local reggae beyond the national borders such as Lion D, Mellow Mood, Forelock, Raphael, Kg Man, Piero Dread, Mama Marjas & Tahnee, Paolo Baldini, Madaski and Dot Vibes.

The album, made of original tunes and riddims specifically created for each artist, shapes from the idea of Niam (Massimo 'Mina' Minato) to work on a project with a common goal, where each tune is useful and essential to the whole work. “In times where a certain amount of individualism is necessary to achieve results, the chance to feel ourselves as a single movement can be a sign of very strong unity, because only together we can look forward" (Niam)

'Stronger Than Ever' is  absolutely something new as it fully shows the big steps forward made in the last ten years by Italian reggae music; a path that originated more than thirty years ago, allowing us to understand and feel a musical genre born on the other side of the world and making it 'ours' too. 

The album marks the beginning of a new cycle of productions, in which Niam & DotVibes Crew will embrace new projects destined to the whole Italian reggae scene.

'Stronger Than Ever'' means to be the first step of a long journey, a sort of Format to be reproposed with other artists, other ideas, other energies.

When Jesse Royal was only a cub, the Lord revealed to his mother that she would have to release one of her sons to the world, proclaiming “he will be a psalmist, declaring righteousness and justice throughout creation.” As Jesse matured into a young lion, his mother observed in him a strong sense of integrity and a natural ability to positively affect those around him. But, it was his deep spirituality, passion for life and unique connection to music that would convince her that he was being molded to be used by the Creator. 

Jesse David Leroi Grey, aka Jesse Royal, was born April 29, 1989. He enjoyed his early years in the hills of Maroon Town and the District of Orange in St. James before moving in the late 90’s with his mother and brother to join his father in Kingston. As fate would have it, Royal developed a special relationship with Daniel ‘Bambaata’ Marley (son of Ziggy Marley) at school. His friendship with Daniel proved to be fuel to the fire as they shared a deep passion for music and football. Their friendship evolved as they spent a great part of their childhood together. Soon the natural inclination confirmed they were simply brothers with different mothers. As these cubs became lions so grew their devotion to music. With the help of longtime friend Curt ‘Qban’ White they began composing and creating their own music. And together they proceeded to fulfill what they knew was a predestined musical journey, designed to inspire, engage and unite people beyond all geographic borders. 

After Jesse returned home from schooling abroad, he reestablished a relationship with high school friend and young producer Kareem ‘Remus’ Burrell (son of Philip ‘Fatis’ Burrell). They began creating and composing music together also, which developed into a Movement as they shared similar views on the social state of Jamaica. 

Blessed with a voice that captures the pain and hunger of a ‘downtrodden’ people; Royal’s militant character and profound lyricism caught the heart of heralded reggae producer, Philip ‘Fatis’ Burrell. Fatis Burrell, affectionately called ‘Father’ had a great and pure impact on the ‘old soul’ of Jesse; as he credits him as an invaluable inspiration and one of the most influential individuals that he has ever encountered.

Working with musicians such as Sly Dunbar, Robbie Shakespeare, Donald Dennis, Earl ‘Chinna’ Smith and Monty Savory; Jesse is currently in the studio putting the final touches on his debut album with producer Kareem Burrell of the XTM.Nation. Jesse Royal has released three mixtapes , Misheni, In Comes The Small Axe and Royally Speaking with Major Lazer. His Debut Album "Lily of The Valley" is now available on all digital platforms.
