Monomer is the musical alias of Gavin Allen. Born in Massachusetts, he still lives in the Boston area, working in game development by day and cranking out wicked bizarre jams by night. His musical journey began in the 3rd grade orchestra, taking pit stops in a handful of rock and jazz bands as well as the Berklee College of Music before winding up in the wonderful world of chipmusic.

Monomer about Labyrinth:

"Labyrinth is everything I love about synthwave and chipmusic: chunky staccato bass lines, soaring melodies, oceans of spacious reverb and heavy, pumping drums. It was written between daydreams of androids, brain-hacking, and digital kingdoms fraught with the monsters in the machine. It was the most fun I've ever had working on music, and I hope that shows in each and every track.

Written gradually over the course of a year and a half, Labyrinth turned out to be the biggest musical challenge I've faced so far. It incorporates a wide array of instruments, from synths like Plogue’s Chipsounds VST and u-he’s Diva, to live guitar on a Fender Telecaster. My main goal after Quite Operational was to create an album where each song had a unique character, not only in the composition but also in the arrangement, production and mixing. This led to a lot of new territory for me, which was both exciting and terrifying, but I’m extremely happy with the end result and can’t wait to share it.

This album wouldn't have been possible without help from some fantastic friends. A special thank you goes out to Bill Mueller, Trevor McEwen, Mark Barry, Tim Gardiner, and Katie Trotta. In addition, a huge thanks goes to Steve Jenkins at Telefuture and C-jeff at Ubiktune for their encouragement and advice with this release, and to Rufus Blacklock for his awesome artwork and incredible enthusiasm. Made with recordings of a Sony Handycam, this track is my foray into proper sampling. 98% of it being based on a select few sounds proved challenging to work with, so finding a new workflow and tools to utilize because of this was rewarding.

New name, new direction, new priorities. 
ddus stands to be my pursuit of music I can confine in and can create with soul and purpose, rather than to satisfy a chase and desire to fit in. Wherever and whichever direction I end up moving, I'll accept and move forward with.

I Think I Broke Something (ITIBS) are back with their new twisted electronic brainchild, titled “Macabre”. Louder, wilder and even weirder than before the Finnish duo’s 4th EP is a mix of heavy Electro Punk, Breaks and dark Electronica, proving once again that ITIBS are far from being a common Electronic music act. Punk Rock attitude, explosive live presence and unique sound are just some of the qualities that make ITIBS stand out. DIY artistry at its finest, with ITIBS showcasing a wide range of talents extending well beyond their music, as the duo also makes its first official on screen appearance too on the (self-made) video for “Macabre” Pt.II. And because artists who put their hearts and souls into their art are an inspiration to everyone, Laforcah has also contributed a remix adding his own touch of heavy Electro on “Macabre”.

We are thrilled to release this immersive sonic journey into the wild, which could be illanthropy's most impressive project to date. 'Headfirst' takes us deep into the potency of the human condition with its full-bodied sound, embodying the multifaceted journey of transitions and self-discovering changes that occur in our lives. This project spans across various genres and moods, ranging stylistically from deep UK-style dubstep to melodic, immersive pieces, even featuring a raunchy drum n bass tune. Overall, the project rounds out a deeply satisfying and meaningful listening experience, offering an opportunity to look inside yourself and feel what you need to feel.

"For me, Headfirst was meant to emulate the crazy combination of simultaneous emotions one feels when going through a major transition in their lives. Those feelings of confusion, unsure of the next step because the next step is straight into the vast unknown. That moment of weakness where you try to convince yourself to sit tight in your complacency. That brief moment where you say FUCK IT and close your eyes, ready to jump without thinking about it. The seemingly surreal feeling of drifting in and out, straight down into something you've never experienced. I wanted to capture all of this, and really dive into my own emotions as I, myself, deal with major transitions and try my best to just "be myself" in every moment. A lot of this music is new for me, it's adventurous and unrelenting and doesn't care how you feel as it whips your mind around into unexplored territory. That's what I want people to feel when they listen, and when that last sonic bit tapers off at the end, I want people to feel more comfortable in their own skin, in their own mind, even if it's for just a moment. I feel like we are sharing that experience in that moment."
