The album as a whole grows from the alt-folk roots of At The Prow Of The Lifeboat to more experimental, psych-folk territories, blending raw acoustic textures with surreal, otherworldly soundscapes. With its lo-fi aesthetic, first-take performances, and the imperfections of an ancient analog Akai tape machine, The Boy In The Diving Bell embraces its rawness, mistakes left in, and a uniquely unpolished atmosphere. JetBelly is a project of bassist Scott Montgomery, based in Studio City, CA; It's #indie #powerpop #rock #folk and sometimes #psychedelic in various combinations, most of it written and recorded while traveling. Scott takes a guitar, recording interface and a Neumann TLM107 mic pretty much anywhere in the world, if they'll let it on the plane, so songs or pieces of songs have been recorded in odd corners of Nashville and Paris, Providence and Provence, Kauai and St Martin and dozens of other cities. Mostly in rentals and hotel rooms.
