I must say that I'm very very happy with my JrF's that I got a few years ago. Actually used them yesterday and recorded something yet to be identilfied

@angakokthoth: that's very odd - the first one has significantly better low freq. response - the cetacean hydrophone element has a much narrower response even in the way its constructed. There is also a larger amount of noise. I should also say that there are specific aspects of sound in water that affect such things. At this location there wasn't much low end sound anyway & so most of what you are hearing at that level is from the handling noise of or wind impact on the cables.

recorded on a recent field trip / workshop in Iceland that I was leading along with Chris Watson. All examples were recorded into Sound Devices 7-series recorders & are unprocessed.

lets just say i'm proud of the hydrophones I produce & the fact that I keep the costs within reach of most folks.
