In a time when DJs are a dime a dozen, Los Angeles’ Kent Christian is the cream that rises to the top. As a DJ and producer who has over a decade of experience in the music industry, Kent has been entertaining crowds in some of the country’s most iconic clubbing destinations. From the world famous Burning Man in the Nevada desert to Miami’s annual WMC (Winter Music Conference), not to mention his residencies at some of Los Angeles’ most iconic venues — such as Avalon and Vanguard — where he played alongside some of the biggest names in the DJ world, namely John Digweed, Danny Howells, Lee Burridge, Gabriel and Dresden, Gregor Tresher, Hernan Cattaneo and Ferry Corsten.

Coming from an era when DJs had to haul their record bags full of vinyl from gig to gig, Kent Christian is one of a dying breed of DJs out there who can lay claim to knowing how to mix on Technic 1200’s and he has evolved his sound as the times have changed, making him one of the most versatile DJs in the industry. His love of true house music is telling throughout his sets, as he brings a unique soulful blend of funky, dirty tech-house and techno, the connective thread being the elusive element of groove. Recognizing that his work as a DJ is merely one element in the world of clubs and dance music, Kent duly pays respect to those who he feels deserve it most by saying, “A DJ is only as good as the producers who supply him with his music, and there wouldn’t be a party without the loyal people who come out every week to show support – they are the true heroes of this movement.”

And it doesn’t stop there; as a co-founder of Twilight Productions Kent has helped countless up-and-coming DJs earn their stripes at venues throughout the city. He is also a member of Los Angeles-based DJ collective Music Savages, who are notorious for their eclectic taste and decadent mustache parties around L.A.

When he’s not behind the decks, Kent can be found in the studio producing his own unique brand of music which has seen him release multiple tracks over the past ten years. As a self-taught audio engineer and a lifelong musician, Kent has worked in two of Los Angeles’ most revered recording studios — Ocean Way and Record One — where he gained the knowledge to create the sounds of tomorrow. His first single, entitled “Confession” was released worldwide on Bro.kn Records in summer of 2008 to high acclaim, and is available on iTunes and Amazon.com. His remix of “Video Games” by Lana del Rey gained him critical acclaim and with brand-new, original productions set to be released throughout 2014, such as “Get Savage,” “Stranger,” “Trust Me,” and “Creep Daddy,” Kent Christian truly is at the forefront of the rhythmic movement, pushing and playing nothing but “great music.”

While most DJs proclaim to be the “next big thing,” or the “one to watch,” Kent Christian is neither one. You see, Kent has already been watched by the dance music community for over a decade and now it’s your turn to see what you’ve been missing.

I arrived in Los Angeles in 1989 where I become bi-costal traveling between Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco working in the Film and Music Industry.
