Jay Goodwill has been a key member of the underground scene for 10 years and playing for the past six years, moving from New Jersey to attend college in Delaware. He quickly started building, producing, and developing the underground dance music scene. He helped produce the following events in the US with Dead by Dawn (production group in Philly) and Zenith (production group in Delaware). Through his DJ'ing, J. Goodwill helped establish the first underground college radio show in Delaware. He also toured with The Dubtribe Sound System in 1995 in addition to DJ'ing many rave events and guest DJ'ing at clubs

In addition to producing parties and DJ'ing around the country, J. Goodwill started his own record label called Soul Society Records along with Trevor Lamont. With their first two releases, U-GOT ME GOING (The Sons of Soul-SS I /J. Goodwill + Sloppy) and PARIS NIGHTS (DJ Skip-SS2/J. Goodwill + Todd G Re@x), their label has proven to be a highly competitive force in music. Other remix work includes FEELIN' IT (IC World Music/J. Goodwill + Todd G. Remix) and 732/609EP (Plastic City/J. Goodwill + Sloppy).

I'm not a producer, I dont Dj anymore, and I haven't thrown a show since some time SC was probably even up. That said, I'm always reposting the stupidest stuff I trip up on.

these are some sounds i had lovingly captured over the past few years. i prefer recording improv vocals and instrumental parts as they communicate the honesty of the moment in a manner that replicating, practicing and perfecting may never hope to touch. why redo shit to 'make it perfect'? fuck the masses. fuck being a slave. i have deeply studied what i must do to lure beauty from where it had existed, and the moment i get the slightest bit of that wonderful thing...i allow the little bit to show me how to bring the rest of it into my presence so i can appreciate it and enjoy it.

Getting his initial start on college radio (WCWS - 90.9 FM), Encyclopedia Brown has over the last two decades become known for his ability to move dance floors at clubs, and underground events across North America.  Influenced by well known artists as Mark Farina, Charles Feelgood, Donald Glaude, Paul Johnson, Lars Behrenroth, Hatiras, and Marc Cotterell, as well as Midwest legends such as 7Up, Doug Burkhart, Hesohi, and Jes One, he has taken what he has learned from them and combined it all in order to create his own unique blend of Garage, Disco, Chicago, French, and Deep House sounds.

A true believer of the adage "House Is A Feeling", his mixes will take you on an intriguing journey into the most remote depths of house culture: A road filled with driving percussion, groovy bass lines, and a jazzy subterranean feel.  His music - just like the man himself - always has a positive vibe, a whole lot of soul, and is sure to bring a smile to your face!
